IT3312E Data Structures & Algorithms, Spring 2021, Instructions for the online Final Exam

1. The documents:

(a) The final exam will be online, starting at 12h30 Monday August 30th 2021
(b) I will create an assignment on Teams called “Final Exam”, this assignment will open at 12h30
(c) In the Teams assignment, there will be a file named “[Link]” which you will be able to download
starting at 12h30
(d) As the final file is in pdf format, you will write your solutions on your own paper sheets, please
answer the questions in the same order as they appear in the exam
(e) On top of each answer sheet, please write your name, student id and sign
(f) Once you have completed your exam, you will scan your exam sheets using CamScanner and store
the scans in “one” pdf file. The name of the pdf file will be “your name” + “your student id”
(g) Once you have created your pdf file, upload it in the Teams assignment “Final Exam”. You can
check by yourself whether you have successfully uploaded your final.

2. The examination
(a) I will create a meeting for the final exam which you will join
(b) The duration of the examination is planned for 75 minutes, so in principle you should finish at 1h45.
I may consider an extension if needed. There is a time stamp assigns to any file uploaded in the
assignment, some marks will be deduced for copies returned after the deadline
(c) For the final, the University has one particular requirement, there must be a camera that shows
yourself and your computer screen:
ˆ “Students use their smart phone to join the Meeting session on Teams to participate in the exam.
Turn on Camera and Microphone. The phone should be fully charged or plug in the charger.
The camera should be set so that it shows the student table, hands and screen. Students can

ˆ Your will be recorded and University officers may revise the recordings
(d) I will stay online on Teams during the final to answer eventual questions
3. Practice for the final
(a) I have created a fake assignment named “fake assignment” where I have uploaded a fake final called
“[Link]”
(b) This fake assignment on Teams will be opened until Saturday August 28 11h59AM
(c) You can practice downloading the fake final
(d) Most importantly, you must take a picture of your student id and upload the picture in the fake
assignment, before this assignment close
(e) To practice the camera angle, you can create your own meeting, join the meeting with your laptop
and smartphone, you will see then by yourself how your cell must be placed to display a view like in
the link above
4. Subjects to prepare for the final
(a) Chapters on graph algorithms, greedy algorithms, hash tables, heap sort, trees
(b) The style of the final will be similar to the midterm, “make sure you remember how to calculate
modulos”
(c) You can use the class notes on Teams during your final
