🔹 Definition of Management:

Management is the process of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling resources—such as people,
time, money, and materials—to achieve organizational goals effectively and efficiently.

🔹 Key Functions of Management:

Planning

Setting goals and deciding how to achieve them.

Example: Developing a marketing strategy for a new product launch.

Organizing

Arranging resources and tasks to implement the plan.

Example: Assigning roles to team members and allocating budget.

Leading (or Directing)

Motivating, communicating with, and guiding employees.

Example: Inspiring your team to meet a deadline or improve performance.

Controlling

Monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed.


Example: Evaluating sales results and changing tactics if goals aren’t met.

🔹 Levels of Management:

Top-Level Management (Executives)

Make long-term strategic decisions.

Titles: CEO, CFO, President.

Middle-Level Management

Implement strategies set by top management and supervise lower managers.

Titles: Department Manager, Regional Manager.

Lower-Level (First-Line) Management

Direct day-to-day operations and manage individual employees.

Titles: Supervisor, Team Leader.
