Unit 7:
All living things need water, but water pollution has become a serious problem. Polluted water is unsafe for drinking
and for other uses. Water pollution happens when wastes and toxic substances make the water unsafe. There are two
sources of water pollution, man made and natural. Man made substances pollute water when they flow into the water
from factories and homes. Natural pollution occurs when rainwater with toxic chemicals flows into rivers or lakes.
These rivers and lakes are a source of drinking water for humans. Water pollution has a harmful effect on our lives. But
there are ways we can reduce water pollution. The first thing we can do is to treat water from factories and households.
We should also stop littering, especially dumping waste into rivers and lakes. Finally, we can reduce water pollution by
using green products and avoiding single use products like plastic bags.
Unit 8:
Online shopping is buying a product or service over the Internet. Online shopping is easy. You visit a seller's website,
select the product you want to buy, and order it. You can pay online or when you get the product. Online shopping is
convenient with Internet access. You can purchase anything at any time, from anywhere. It could be a meal, a gift for a
friend, or even an English course. You can save the trouble of traveling time and money. However, shopping online has
disadvantages too. Firstly, the products you receive are sometimes not exactly what you expect. Secondly, when you are
not happy with the product, you can return it but you have to pay for the shipping. Thirdly, you can easily become a
shopaholic because it is easy and there are many products to choose from, you may find it hard to stop yourself from
over shopping. You may even buy things you don't really need.
Unit 9:
This is Ambien Commune radio station. The storm season is coming. So today's special program will tell you about
what you should do before, during and after a storm. Before a storm, each family should prepare an emergency kit with
necessary things like plasters, basic medicine, a whistle, bottles of water, food, etc. Bring in outdoor things like flower
pots or rubbish bins because they can get blown away by strong winds strengthen your house. If necessary during a
storm, stay inside even when the rain and winds stop. Wait, because the storm may start up again. Stay away from
Windows and glass doors. They could break and hurt you. Gather in the safest room in the house. After the storm, don't
leave your house right away. Listen to important instructions from local authorities. They may warn you about which
parts of your area are dangerous and should be avoided. Stay away from broken power lines.
Unit 10:
Hi students! Here's our plan for the exhibition tomorrow morning.
First, the opening ceremony is at the Main Hall. We'll listen to Dr. Lam introduce the exhibition. The ceremony starts at
8:30 am, so remember to meet me at the Main Hall by 8:20.
Next, we'll visit the "History” section. It's on the first floor. You'll see pictures of different ways people communicated
in the past, such as smoke signals and carrier pigeons. We'll be there from 9:15 to 10:00.
Then, we'll move to the "Modern Time” section. It's in the Tech Room. You will see devices with internet connections,
like smartphones and smartwatches. I'm sure you'll like it very much but we can only spend an hour there from 10:15 to
11:15.
Finally, we'll watch an animated film in the Cinema Room. The film is about communication devices in the future, like
personal translation machines and holography. We must be at the Cinema Room by 11:30 am
Now...
Unit 11:
Tom: I heard that in Finland, a robot called Ellas can speak 23 languages. This robot teaches many subjects like
languages and maths to school students.
Lan: Wow! Can it interact with students?
Tom: Yes. Students can practise English with Ellas in real time. Ellas can even do a Gangnam style dance for the
students.
Lan: Sounds exciting. I think children would enjoy studying in a class with Elias.
Tom: Exactly! This robot is patient and doesn't feel tired repeating words. It can also ask questions that are suitable for
the students’ level.
Lan: So students can answer questions which are not too difficult, and they won't feel embarrassed when they make
mistakes, right?
Tom: Definitely I think one day robot teachers will replace human teachers.
Lan: I don't think so. They can't teach students how to behave
Tom: Hmm...That's true. Also robots don't have emotional connections with students like humans do
Lan: One more thing is that robots can't solve problems between students...
Unit 12:
Good morning, everyone. Today I'd like to tell you about life on a planet called Planet Hope.
Planet Hope is in the Milky Way Galaxy. It is three times bigger than Earth. It has three suns and four moons, so the
weather is hot all year round, and its surface is quite dry. Planet Hope has only one season.
The creatures living there are Hopeans, and they don't look like us. They have a big head, four eyes, two legs, and four
arms. They have thick skin to protect them from the heat. They are very friendly and hospitable. They are only
dangerous to people who try to attack them.
Hopeans grow special plants for food. They don't drink liquid water, they drink a type of petrol from under the ground.
Hopeans use rockets to travel at very high speeds.
That is my description of Planet Hope and the creatures living on it. I hope you enjoyed it and thank you for listening.
