SCENE 1

NARRATOR: Inside the library, there’s a guy named Kevin—who is known for his intelligence,

and bookworm personality. One day, he saw a beautiful woman across the aisle.

KEVIN: I wonder if I can find my Juliet in the future, just like this book [stares at a book

and closes it].

NARRATOR: Kevin stares into the far distance and sees a girl reading a book (Flora). He

instantly falls in love with her at first sight.

KEVIN: That lady is so pretty just like Juliet, I think I have fallen in love with her.

Kevin approaches Flora’s direction and sits beside her.

KEVIN: Hello, my fair lady. What’s your name?

FLORA: [Blushes] Flora…

KEVIN: Do you love reading too?

FLORA: Yes, I do…

KEVIN: Would you care to go for coffee sometimes?

FLORA: Oh sure… [Blushes, twirls hair]

SCENE 2

NARRATOR: On that day forward, Kevin & Flora started dating, holding each other’s heart and

feelings, longing for each other everyday.

Kevin and Flora are walking side-by-side. Kevin holds her tightly. Kevin holds out a flower
bouquet, Flora covers her mouth in shock.

KEVIN: Here, my beautiful Flora, a flower for our first weeksary.

FLORA: Oh, thank you so much Kevin! I love you.

KEVIN: I love you too, dear.

SCENE 3

NARRATOR: In only just a month, Kevin decided to do something special.

Kevin and Flora are standing across from each other. Kevin kneels down and brings out a fake
diamond ring.

KEVIN: Dear Flora, I think I really did fall in love with you, so for our first monthsary, I

decided to propose to you! Will you marry me?

FLORA: OH YES! YES! I will marry you!

NARRATOR: Flora accepted Kevin’s proposal without a second thought, this is because she is

dumb when it comes to love. It was a somewhat happy ending for the both of

them. Yet, for Kevin thought this love was true love, he was unfaithful.

SCENE 4

NARRATOR: One day, Kevin saw another beautiful girl. Leaning on a wall, staring onto her

phone—minding her own business.

KEVIN: She looks so pretty.

NARRATOR: And once again, he became attracted to a girl named Nicole even though he has
a fiancé.

KEVIN: Ohh… That girl over there is so pretty, a little talk wouldn’t hurt my fiancé.

Kevin walks to the girl, places his hand over the wall and looks at her.

KEVIN: Hey, cutie, wanna go for a drink?

NICOLE: Oh sure, I would appreciate it.

SCENE 5

NARRATOR: Kevin started hanging out with Nicole, while still being with Flora. Nicole is

unaware of Kevin’s disloyalty.

Kevin and Nicole are walking together, laughing, chatting, talking. Suddenly, Kevin’s phone
rings.

KEVIN: Oh, let me take this call for a moment.

NICOLE: Sure.

KEVIN: Hello Flora? What do you want?

FLORA: Can you go with me this weekend?

KEVIN: Sorry, I’m too busy.

FLORA: It’s okay…

Kevins hangs up. Nicole looks at Kevin and wonders.

NICOLE: Who was that?

KEVIN: Don’t mind it, it was just no one.

NARRATOR: Out of nowhere, Flora jumps behind Kevin—she was hiding behind him!

FLORA: HEY! KEVIN! What do you mean it was just “no one” huh?

KEVIN: [Surprised] Huh? FLORA!? What are you doing here?

NICOLE: You have a girlfriend?!

FLORA: I’m not his girlfriend! I’m his fiancé!

NICOLE: You had a fiancé all long while being with me?!

KEVIN: Wait, Nicole this isn’t what it looks like! Flora, this is just a misunderstanding!

Nicole slaps Kevin on the face, and walks away.

NICOLE: JERK!

FLORA: I HATE YOU KEVIN!!

Flora slaps Kevin on the face, and walks away mad. Kevin reaches out for them but they have
walked too far.

KEVIN: Flora! Nicole! Wait! NOO!

NARRATOR: It was the result of Kevin’s disloyalty and believing that his attraction at first sight

was love, when it wasn’t.

SCENE 6

NARRATOR: Under the sad skies, Kevin sits down and stares at the ground.

KEVIN: I’m such a jerk!

NARRATOR: So, he called Nicole and Flora on the phone.

Kevin opens his phone and calls Nicole first.

KEVIN: Hey Nicole…

NICOLE: What is it?

KEVIN: I’m sorry I got you involved in my unfaithfulness, I know you did nothing wrong—

Nicole hangs up.

KEVIN: She hung up… But at least I got to tell her honestly. I should tell my ex too…

Kevin calls Flora. Flora picks up the phone.

FLORA: What?

KEVIN: I want to apologize to you Flora, I know it was my fault and you didn’t deserve to

be treated that way and I can’t change the past but what I can do is… say sorry

to you Flora.

FLORA: At least you were aware of your decisions.

Flora hangs up and Kevin is sitting alone once again.

NARRATOR: On that day, Kevin learned something. Something valuable. That we shouldn’t

like others while in a relationship, and believing that attraction is love when it

isn’t.

Kevin's behavior reflects a misunderstanding of love and attraction by conflating initial attraction with true love. He instantly falls in love with Flora at first sight, likening her to Juliet, and quickly proposes after just a month . However, his infatuation fades when he encounters another attractive woman, Nicole, despite being engaged to Flora, indicating his inability to differentiate between fleeting attraction and genuine love . This misunderstanding leads to his downfall as both women leave him, teaching him the lesson that attraction is not synonymous with love .

Flora's character development illustrates a limited understanding of love similar to Kevin's initially, but it evolves into one of self-respect and recognition of deceit. Initially, she is portrayed as naive, accepting Kevin's quick proposal without question, indicating a readiness to equate immediate attraction with love . However, upon discovering Kevin's unfaithfulness, she confronts him assertively and leaves him, showing growth in her understanding of love by demanding honesty and fidelity . This growth contrasts with Kevin's delayed realization of the difference between attraction and true love, which only occurs after losing both women .

Secondary characters like Flora and Nicole play pivotal roles in revealing Kevin's character flaws by acting as catalysts for his self-realization. Flora, through her readiness to accept Kevin's proposal, embodies the naive aspect of romance that Kevin exploits, highlighting his impulsiveness and superficial understanding of love . Nicole, on the other hand, unknowingly exposes Kevin's duplicity, as her involvement uncovers his existing commitment to Flora . Their confrontations with Kevin force him to confront the consequences of his actions, ultimately impacting his development by highlighting his lack of fidelity and prompting his journey towards self-awareness and change .

The narrative structure contributes to the thematic exploration of fidelity and romantic perception by unfolding Kevin's journey from infatuated lover to a man confronting the consequences of his actions. The progression from his initial infatuation with Flora to his engagement and subsequent betrayal through attraction to Nicole illustrates the superficial nature of his romantic perceptions . The episodic structure, marked by distinct scenes, highlights moments of critical decision-making and realization, with each scene unraveling the consequences of Kevin's disloyalty . This structure effectively underscores the themes of fidelity, impulsive attraction, and the superficiality of romantic perception, culminating in Kevin's introspective moment of loss and understanding .

The narrative depicts the theme of instant gratification versus long-term commitment by contrasting Kevin's impulsive actions with the reality of maintaining a committed relationship. Kevin experiences instant gratification when he meets Flora and swiftly falls in love, leading to a rapid engagement after just one month . However, his lack of commitment is evident when he allows himself to be swayed by Nicole, demonstrating a preference for immediate emotional satisfaction over sustaining a sincere, long-term relationship . This ultimately results in the dissolution of both relationships, highlighting the unsustainability of prioritizing instant gratification over commitment .

The library setting plays a key role in shaping Kevin's romantic ideals by juxtaposing his intellectual pursuits with his romantic infatuations. As a known bookworm, Kevin's environment is conducive to idealistic and literary notions of love, which manifests in his immediate attraction to Flora, whom he likens to Juliet, a symbol of romantic idealism . This setting emphasizes both his intellect and his susceptibility to romantic fantasy, blending Kevin's pursuit of knowledge with his impulsive romantic desires, which leads him to hastily pursue a relationship with Flora under the guise of a storybook romance .

By the end of the story, Kevin learns the significant lesson that true love should not be equated with mere attraction, and that maintaining a relationship requires loyalty. His initial tendency to confuse attraction with love leads to unfaithfulness, resulting in the loss of both Flora and Nicole . Through this experience, he comes to understand that attraction, while compelling, does not constitute the depth required for a real relationship . This realization highlights the importance of commitment and integrity in sustaining meaningful personal connections.

The conclusion of Kevin's story illustrates the moral of the narrative by emphasizing the consequences of confusing attraction with love and the importance of fidelity. Kevin's realization of the difference between fleeting attraction and genuine love comes at a high cost, as he loses both Flora and Nicole due to his unfaithfulness . The moral lesson is crystallized in Kevin's reflective statement about not liking others while in a relationship, underscoring the narrative's message about the importance of integrity and commitment in relationships . The story concludes with Kevin alone, pondering his mistakes, thereby reinforcing the narrative's didactic purpose.

Kevin faces the consequence of losing both Flora and Nicole due to his disloyalty. Flora, upon discovering his deceitful behavior, confronts him and angrily leaves after slapping him . Nicole also leaves in anger upon realizing Kevin was engaged during their interactions, resulting in a physical slap as well . Kevin responds to these events by acknowledging his mistakes; he calls both women to apologize, admitting his unfaithfulness and expressing remorse, though the women refuse to continue their relationships with him .

Honesty plays a crucial role in maintaining trust within Kevin's relationships, as its absence leads to mistrust and eventual breakdowns. Kevin's failure to be honest about his engagement with Flora and his simultaneous involvement with Nicole results in the loss of trust from both women . Flora discovers Kevin's deceit when she confronts him in the presence of Nicole, leading to both women leaving him due to broken trust . The absence of honesty underscores the fragility of his relationships, demonstrating that truthfulness is foundational to trust and that its breach leads to irrepairable damage in personal connections.
