1. Positive results in stool are seen in nonbacterial gastroenteritis, especially in infants and very young children (6 months-2years of age)
caused by [Link] the test cannot differentiate between the serotypes of Rotavirus.
2. Negative results are seen in absence of Rotavirus infection. However, it does not rule out the disease.
3. The rate of positive test results may vary due to age,weather, seasonal factors, geographic location, and the general health environment of
the individual.
4. False positive results may be observed in highly vaccinated population and due to cross reactivity in patients excreting Norovirus antigen in
stool.
5. False negative reaction may be due to processing of sample collected early or late in course of the disease.
6. Test conducted in stool.
