Date: 6th September 2021, Monday
Morning session(10am-12pm): Institute Induction
The session began with welcoming all the students by Honorable Chancellor Dr.
G. Vishwanathan followed by Vice chancellor Dr. Rambabu Kodali and pro
vice chancellor Dr. S. Narayanan. All the students were informed about the
rules, facilities provided by the university and opportunities. Later Dean of
academics Dr. Jayaraman gave us a brief idea about how credits scores, exams,
and the various things followed with the course choosen [Link] this, the
Director CDC, Dr. Samuel Rajkumar, took over and told us about job
placements and to “look for opportunities and once found, grab them.” We were
also shown the placement course wise calendar and placement guidelines and
policy.
Then the Directors of Hostels, Dr. Sumathy S and Dr. Prabakar S, told us about
hostel life at VIT. We were given a virtual tour of the Vellore Campus and
informed of the attendance timings and In-Time Rules. We were also informed
about the various facilities provided in hostels and the rules we have to
followed.
Afternoon session(2pm-2:45pm): Academic and VTOP
Dr. Senthil Murugan B director of the software cell gave us a demonstration of
vtop and EPT. Everything regarding vtop was told in detail for example where
to check our proctor details, where to upload our assigmennts, course page etc.
The session was continued by dean of academics Dr. Jayaraman who gave an
overview on semesters, courses chosen, grading system at VIT. By the end of
the session we were clear about the academic and functioning of VTOP.

Date: 7th September 2021, Monday
Morning session(10am-12pm): school induction
All the students from school of chemical engineering(SCHEME) were given a
warm welcome by all the professors. It started with the professors introducing
themselves to us regarding their qualifications and their field of expertise
Dr. Nirmala G S then, showed us a presentation on Destination of Chemical
Engineers. The presentation gave us an insight on how chemical engineers
contribute to the society, the various career options present in the world for us
to explore and various other things. Later we were told about the academic plan
for SCHEME and the faculty that would be teaching us. We were informed
about some successful startups under the supervision of skilled professors. After
this Dr. Anand Gurumoorthy, Director and Counselor of VIT. Informed us
about the proctor scheme VIT offered to their students and gave a general idea
as to how proctors can help and what are the roles and responsibilities of a
proctor. We were also informed about the courses that were classified into 7
major categories and also not to foget the English course provided to help
students with better communication and hold in the language. At the end we
were informed about the number of semesters i.e. 8. We were also told that one
year is divided into two semesters mainly fall semester and winter semester.
Afternoon session(2pm-4pm):
In the starting of the meeting, we were told as to how proctors can help
students with personal problems and/or issues by Dr. Goyal Kumar, University
Proctor. We were given an insight of the counseling facilities at VIT. Then we
were told everything about student welfare activities. VIT provided an equipped
gymnasium, 2 swimming pools, a cricket and football field and meditation and
yoga classes. We were also told about the innumerable clubs we could get into;
Dance, Drama, Language, Music, Fine Art, to name a few amongst the many.

We became aware as to what clubs we could get into and how we can take the
benefit from it in a myriad of ways. And finally, we were informed about the
student induction program at VIT, by Dr. S L Aarthy.
8th September 2021, Wednesday :
Morning session(6:30am-7:30am): yoga session
In this event we were told about the benefits of performing yoga . the physical
instructor performed some of the asanas and same was done by all students.

9th September 2021:
Morning session (6:30am-7:30):
It was day2 of performing the asanas shown by the yoga instructor. We did
some new asanas and some pre performed one.
(10:00am-1:00pm):
Mr. Murli, student counsellor at VIT gave us presentation on living in harmony
and universal human values. He used the pictures to express what he was trying
to explain for example “trolley dilemma” was one of the ways he explained
oncoming train, and there were six characters in the picture. Four were working
on one track and the fifth was working by himself on an adjoining track. The
sixth character was standing at the lever which switches the path of the train
tracks. And it was up to that character to choose whom to save. The experiment
was to put ourselves in the frame of reference of that sixth character and decide
if four people died and one person lived or vice versa. The counsellor told us
almost everyone chose that the one person dies rather than four people. It was a
logical choice. Then the counsellor gave a biological explanation as to how and
why we would make that choice, and what was the scientific background behind
making that choice.
11:15am-12:00pm:
Sharmila maam took over the session answering some of the frequently asked
questions by the students.
12:00pm-1:00pm:
Mr. Calvin, another counselor on campus, gave a presentation on stress
management. He said one must first build the right perception. Second, he
stated that “until now” matters just as much as “from now on”. Third, he said
that one must not wish for a smile without learning the struggle. Fourth, one

must confront one’s responsibilities. And finally, one must not pitch one’s tent
on loose soil, that is, one must not depend on people who are unreliable.
Afternoon session( 2:30pm-4:30pm):
Dr. Hariharan gave us tips on time management and told us how important it is.
He told us to keep 3 things in mind i.e. time attention and energy. Keeping these
factors in mind one can manage time well and complete their work more
effectively.
In the latter session we were told about how various universities all around the
world are connected with VIT and how we can use it to our advantage . we were
given an overview of all the prime universities and the students that are
studying there. At the end we were informed about the conditions as to apply
for it.
18th September 2021
Morning session(11:00am-1:00pm):
Complete guide as to how borrow a book from library was told and we were
also guided thru e-gateway website from which we could borrow books. Dr.
Aarthy SL later cleared some doubts and FAQs. We were then, introduced to
the Entrepreneurship and Tech Business Incubation Program by Dr.
Balachandran A. He said there are 3 types of people:
1)Those who make things happen
2)Those who watch things happen
3)Those who wonder what is happening.
These three points gave us an interesting and thought-provoking perspective as
to what he was here to tell us exactly. He gave us an insight on wht all is
required for a startup .

Afternoon session(3:00pm-4:00pm):
Counselor’s session taken by Mr Blessing Calvin. Topic was What makes you
special? He said that mindset was structured by an individual’s beliefs. He told
us to believe you’re capable of withstanding obstacles. He gave important
pointers, which were:
1)To guards your thoughts
2)To pay attention
3)To learn words that help you grow
4)To encourage yourself to build right habits
5)To manage your days
6) To reaffirm goals
7)To commit
25th September 2021:
The head of the club of blogging told us about how to do blogging and how
influential it is. He told us how versatile can one be with the way to present it.
They gave us some very useful tips on writing styles and how to grab the
attention of the audience. They also guided us on how to create the site. Later
The head of Games Club gave us fun quizzes based on:
1)Movie dialogues
2)Company logos
3)Coded phrases
4)Guess the song
And after this, we were all invited to an online chess tournament.

29th September 2021:
We had a session with Mrs. Hiran told us about product development and what
all goes under in formation of one product to be launched in the [Link]
continued to tell us what we can do to make ourselves aware of problems and
how we can go about solving them A few points she made were:
1)Reading the newspaper/trade magazines
2)Attending seminars/conferences which discuss your area of interest
3)Discuss the said problems amongst your social circle.
After discussing this, She told us the concept of Kipling’s questions. The
questions were as follows:
1)Who is affected?
2)What is the problem?
3)How is it a problem?
4)When is it a problem?
5)Where is it a problem?
6)Why is it a problem?
After discussing these questions, she told us the purpose of observation. She
said we observe to understand inherent assumptions, identify “special cases”.
She explained this in the following points::
1)Add depths to the understanding of the customer
2)One must record one’s senses
3)Differentiate between observations and impressions.
At the end she told us how one can find solutions to the problems that we found.

6th October 201:
Mr. Keshav Kumar, Business Head at Waste Chakra, addressed us. He told us
about how we can make our startup ideas a reality and gave us a presentation
from a business-oriented perspective. He first told us about Lean Model Canvas
and explained what it was. He said that it was a framework to convert ideas of
an individual into a tangible format. He showed us the template of what the
Lean Model Canvas looks like, and after this, we had an Interactive Question
and Answer Session with the guest.
He showed us logos of major tech companies and first asked us to identify those
logos. The companies were: Google ,Tesla ,YouTube ,Facebook ,Apple . He
then asked us the following questions for all the.
9th October 2021:
Mr. Sirish Kulkarni, head of Art and Crafts club Welcomed us all to the
webinar. Then, Ms. Shreya took over to give us a live demonstration of how to
mix shades and paint flowers. She showed us, using paints and a pallet, how to
obtain the perfect colors required for the flowers. She used water colors and
explained how to use them. She then, proceeded to show us the techniques to
paint a one-stroke leaf and two-stroke leaf respectively. She also showed us
how to get the proper shape for rose petals and told us how to alternate the
boldness if color in the flower. She gave a demonstration of the same on an A4
size sheet, with a brush, a container filled with water and water colors. She
showed us how to paint the thin branches of leaves and how we can overlap
leaves and flowers in a creative manner. After the live demonstration, Mr. Sirish
took over to address any doubts and/or questions that we might have.

Then we were shown mandala art, which was a calming experience. The artist
drawing the designs said that it will increase one’s patience level and relax the
mind. At the end we were told how to draw facial expressions.
