Description
This screen is used to input related data for well geometry calculation. The various components are described below.
General
Depth - total well depth
Bit Depth - depth of the bit
Water Depth - depth of the sea water
Air Gap - height of the air gap
Pilot Hole - inner diameter of the pilot hole
Casing/Liners
Type - select the type of the casing/liner
Description - text to characterize the casing/liner
Start - starting depth
End - end depth
OD - outer diameter
ID - inner diameter
Weight - weight per unit length
Grade - grade of the casing/liner. Allowed to be empty.
- add a new row at the end of the grid
- delete the selected row
- move the selected row up
- move the selected row down
Drill String
Type - select the type of the drill string
Length - length of the drill string
Pipe OD - outer diameter
Pipe ID - inner diameter
TJ Type - select the type of the tool joint
TJ Len - external length of the tool joint
TJ OD - outer diameter of the tool joint
TJ ID - inner diameter of the tool joint
Drill Pipe Joint Length - joint length of drill pipes
Bit Size - outer diameter of the bit. This field is read-only, mainly for consistency with version 2.7. In VH 3.0, it is recommended to
input bit as the last section of the drill string by selecting type "PDC" or "RBit".
Eccentricity
Ignore Eccentricity - whether to consider eccentricity. If checked this will calculate hydraulics with the drill pipe centered.
Unchecked will calculate hydraulics with the drill pipe on the side of the hole in high angle sections.
WOB - weight of bit (If Ignore Eccentricity is checked, this field is disabled and can be left empty.)
Drill Pipe Rubbers
Drill Pipe Rubbers - Thick pieces of rubber about 1 ft/30 cm long. OD greater than the tool joint and are used to reduce tool joint
wear..
Start - starting depth
End - end depth
OD - outer diameter
Avg Len - average length of the drill pipe rubbers
No. Across Interval - total number of drill pipe rubbers across the interval
Control Panel
- Update: When this button is clicked, all changes in the input form will be updated in global memory, so that all subsequent
calculations will use the new data. However, the changes made have NOT been saved permanently to the database at this point.
- Get: When this button is clicked, original data will be reloaded so that all the changes made on this input form will be discarded.
- Run: When this button is clicked, an output form will display the casing/drill string sections as shown below.
- Back: When this button is clicked, the previous geometry input form will be displayed.
- Print: When this button is clicked, the results will be printed to an Excel spread sheet automatically.
