Nx on Linux: Testing Object Storage

The document outlines a testing scenario for Nx on Linux, utilizing Wasabi Object Storage for unlimited cloud storage that does not occupy local disk space. It details the setup process, performance testing, and configuration adjustments necessary for optimal use, including the use of S3 for both main and backup storage. The testing includes various performance and capacity tests, as well as disaster recovery assessments, to ensure effective data management and retrieval.

Use-case: Nx On Linux

• Unlimited cloud storage that doesn’t

take up any local disk space by default.
Files are downloaded on demand, so IP Camera
you get instant access to far larger
volumes of data than what your local
storage can support. VMS Server
Linux x86
• Performance is similar to a local hard Over Internet
drive. We use workload adaptive
Encrypted TLS1.2
heuristics, advanced in-memory/disk
caching and write bundling to achieve
high performance. Linux S3
Plugin

• Multiple concurrent readers and

On-Premise Cloud
writers. Updates are automatically
synced and visible to all your machines,
so there is no need to maintain scripts or
use rsync to copy data anymore For our testing, we will use JuiceFS Community Edition:

Test Environment Setup

1. Install & configure Linux S3 Plugin

inside Linux VMS Server

2. Perform Network Performance Test

to measure current network speed for
S3 Operation

3. Create Wasabi S3 Bucket to be used

for our testing

4. Mounting Wasabi S3 Bucket into a

local folder inside Linux VMS Server

5. Repointing NX var/data/ to the new

mount point by using symbolic link for
using Wasabi as main storage &
mounting Wasabi as NFS.

Important Configuration

• We need to understand bandwidth & network speed at the customer location, we can adjust
following configuration for location with minimum bandwidth
o Adjust the parallel upload too smaller number
o Enable delay upload
o Enable local buffer

• If we want to use Wasabi as Backup Storage, then we need to allocate separate mount point for
the local buffer

• It always recommended to perform Read & Write test operation from the customer location to
understand their current network performance
