The sequence of steps for safely replacing a module in a PLC system begins with switching off the machine. Next, the safe module should be physically replaced, followed by powering the machine back on. Locate CPU Safe in the main cabinet and observe the LED status: the R/E LED should blink green, while the MXCHG LED blinks yellow. Adjust the rotary switch according to the number of MXCHG flashes (e.g., set to '1' for one blink, '2' for two blinks, etc.), then press and hold the ENTER button until the Enter light turns on, starting the PLC initiation procedure. Upon completion, the status LEDs should be R/E flashing green and FW-ACK flashing yellow. Finally, rotate the switch to the FW-ACKN position, press ENTER, and upon completion, the status should show R/E solid green and L/AIF2 flashing green .

The LED indication system provides visual feedback on the status and progress of the module replacement procedure. Initially, the R/E LED blinking green and MXCHG blinking yellow guide users to set the correct rotary switch position. After initiating the procedure, the change in status LEDs to R/E blinking green and FW-ACK blinking yellow indicates that the system acknowledgment part of the process has started. Finally, when the R/E turns solid green and L/AIF2 blinks green, it signals the completion and successful acquisition of the new module by the CPU .
