d. explain why plants are important to humans and the

A. Content Standard Students will understand the different parts of a plants and their functions in
plant growth, survival, and reproduction.
B. Performance Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of plant parts and
standard their functions by engaging in hands-on activities, presentations and real-life
application.

II. SUBJECT MATTER Different Parts of Plants and their Function
A. Science Concept/Idea
The different parts of a plant include roots, stems, leaves,
flowers, seeds, and fruits.
The roots absorb water and minerals from the soil and anchor the
plant in the ground.
The stem supports the plant above ground and carries water and
minerals to the leaves.
The leaves collect energy from the Sun and make food for the
plant, using an amazing process called photosynthesis.
The fruit protects the seeds.
The flower helps in reproduction.

Identifying.
C. Materials:
Laptop, Cartolina, Carton, Coloring Materials, Pentel pen, Double
sided tape, Masking tape, Bond paper, and Real plants

1. Cooperation in performing group activity.
2. Honesty in reporting/recording observations/answers.
3. Being obedient in following instructions.
4. Taking care of our environment, especially the plants around
us.

C. Motivation
Group Activity using a “Picture Puzzle” of the plants.
Instruction:
1. Divide the class into four or five groups.
2. Check the materials brought about by each group/learner.
3. Let the learner/s follow the procedures given by the teacher.
4. Remind of the precautionary measures in performing the
activity.
5. Go around and inspect what the learners are doing.
Ask or answer questions if necessary.
6. After performing the activity, answer the guide questions and
get ready for the presentation of outputs.

D. Discussion
A. Presentation of Output (creative way).
After the activity, each group/learner is asked to present their
output to the class in a creative way.
B. Video presentation on the different parts of the plants and
their functions.
C. Presentation of real plants to the class.
