1. Activity Vocabulary Check:


1. Compare v. - estimate, measure, or note the similarity or
dissimilarity between.
Ex. Before choosing a laptop, I will compare the battery life,
weight, and price of several models.
2. Apart adv. - (of two or more people or things) separated by a
distance; at a specified distance from each other in time or
space.
Ex. The two science buildings stand apart from each other by
nearly a kilometer on campus.
3. Data n. - facts and statistics collected together for reference or
analysis.
Ex. The survey data show a steady increase in students’
satisfaction with online classes.
4. Axis n. – the lines in a graph, horizontal axis (x-axis) that
represents categories or labels, while the vertical axis (y-axis)
represents the numerical values or data.
Ex. Label the horizontal axis with the months and the vertical axis
with the total sales figures.
5. Draft n. -a preliminary version of a piece of writing.
Ex. Label the horizontal axis with the months and the vertical axis
with the total sales figures.
Ex. She submitted a rough draft of her research paper for the
professor’s feedback.

3. Abstraction Tables, graphs and maps are useful ways to
visually illustrate information, facts, figures, and data.
They summarize a large amount of information into a
smaller package of information that is easier to
interpret.

Tables are rows and columns of numbers and words


(though mostly numbers). They permit rapid access to
and relatively easy comparison of information.

A graph is a picture that shows how two sets of


information or variables (= amounts that can change)
are related, usually by lines or curves.
Types of Graphs
A map is as a graphic representation of a portion of a
land or sea surface. It enables a person to locate a
particular place. Maps are made so you can visualize
the man-made and the natural features of a place. A
map has legend that contains symbols used to
illustrate objects.

The 4 Differentiated Activities


Group the class into 4. Let the students perform the following
differentiated activities. They will be given task cards, a 7-minute
preparation and 1-2 minutes presentation. The order of presentation will
be made through draw lots:

Group 1- SINGING
Scenario: Create a song about the importance of table, graphs and maps.
Group 2- POSTER MAKING
Scenario: You will create a poster showing the significance of table,
graphs and maps.
Group 3- BAR GRAPH
Scenario: Create a bar graph about favorite subjects.
Group 4- PIE GRAPH
Scenario: Create a pie graph about favorite things to do inside the
classroom.
