Release notes

Fixed issues

LA Network Manager

General

L2-6975 Restoring a session from the network does not work with large session files.

Known issues and limitations

LA Network Manager

General

L2-1385 Only one network card must be set to the same subnet as the L-NET network.
L2-2356 Audio playing may be interrupted on some Windows 10 computers if LA NWM runs on the same
machine. Setting amplified controllers to consecutive IP addresses and adjusting the IP range to
scan option accordingly improves the situation.
L2-2366 P1: Configuration file management from LA Network Manager is not supported. Configuration files
are managed only from the P1 front panel.
L2-2490 P1: Settings Protection is not supported on P1 units.
L2-2559 Windows: When using USB network interface cards for the first time on a given port, the PC must
be restarted with the USB network interface card connected so that the LA NWM AVDECC 1722.1
Controller can start.
L2-3284 P1: Remote control of the Media Player is not supported. Media Player is controlled only from the P1
front panel.
L2-3286 P1: There is no indication of the limiter activity on processor units (except L-Drive Gain Reduction in
the Live page).
L2-4953 The numeric keypad is oversized when using multiple screens on Windows 10. Closing and re-
opening the numeric keypad fixes the problem.

Setup page

L2-234 Cannot shift the IP address of a set of virtual Units by only one cell in the Unit Matcher.
L2-1644 PIN protection not displayed on standby Units.
L2-1918 Updating firmware of a unit set on a Factory Preset: the preferred user preset memory choice is not
taken into account.
L2-2057 Unit Matcher does not always apply IP changes correctly.
L2-3170 P1 goes to "disconnected" red status at the end of firmware upload (without affecting firmware
update).
L2-3662 Amplified controllers: an additional AES error message is reported when opening the Preset Loader
(if applicable).
L2-6159 When importing in LA Network Manager a Soundvision project that contains a SYVA+LOW source
driven by a 16-channel amplified controller, the unit is imported without SYVA+LOW enclosure sets.
The preset layouts and group assignation need to be restored manually in LA Network Manager.
L2-6444 LA7.16: firmware update sometimes fails. Workaround: reboot the unit(s).
L2-6809 When upgrading the firmware to a higher minor version (for example firmware 2.12.x to firmware
2.13.x), P1 and LA7.16(i) units are removed from the Workspace and are sent back to the network
scanning zone. Workaround: reload the session.

Release notes

Tuning page

L2-2527 P1: Cannot copy/paste processor unit parameters.

L2-2898 P1: Contour EQ, Group Gain, and Group Delay compact views not refreshed on P1 virtual units.
L2-3260 P1: In P1 control panel, on the bus tab, the delay unit used is always ms.
L2-3285 P1: No polarity control from P1 groups.
M1002-749 M1: It is currently not possible to import a reference curve such as the response of a system
measured in another session. Workaround: export post EQ the Impulse Response (IR) of the
reference curve, add a virtual amplified controller on the Workspace and assign it to a group; assign
the group to a location, record it on an open loop (only noise), then in EQ tab, import the reference IR
via the Maintenance menu.
M1002-1346 M1 with multiple P1: slave P1 are muted during measurement with the Master P1. In case a slave P1
needs to stay unmuted during measurement, set it on an IP address out from the scanned range.

Firmware

On LA4X, during firmware update, loudspeakers can produce low level clicking sounds if connected
to the amplified controllers.
F1F-110 When sending a loud audio signal and then stop sound, the SIGNAL LED may remain lit.
F1F-1235 P1: Settings Protection is not supported.
F1F-3385 P1: Media Player does not support USB keys with a storage capacity of more than 32 GB.

LA7.16(i) limitations

LA7.16(i) units have the following known limitations:

— The Unit Matcher is not fully supported at this point.
— The Layout family conflict is not managed: the parameters from the virtual unit are pushed to the physical unit.
For more information about resolving conflicts on LA7.16(i), refer to the embedded Help.
— Multiple selection in the Setup page:
— Only Operating Mode Selector, Status Selector, and Preset Selector (identical layouts only) are supported.
— In Input Selector, the status of the sources is not shown if several units are selected.
— Settings Protection is not supported at this point.
— Show Mode is not supported at this point.
To report technical issues or provide general feedback, please contact L-Acoustics at nm@[Link].

Recommendations

Network setup

— Always connect LA4X with hardware version ID1, ID2 or ID3, LA4, and LA8 after other types of amplified
controllers in an L-NET daisy-chain.
— Use a single computer running LA NWM over the network, even in redundant network topologies. In such case,
connect LA NWM to the Primary network only, and never connect it to both the Primary and the Secondary
networks.
— Do not use WiFi between the computer running LA NWM and the Units. For wireless control, use a second
computer to remotely control over WiFi the computer that hosts LA NWM and is connected to the network using a
wired NIC. Popular remote control solutions include: VNC, TightVNC, TeamViewer, Splashtop…
— For better performances: use 1 Gb/s Ethernet network, and set amplified controllers on contiguous IP addresses
(reduce the IP scanning range accordingly in LA NWM).
— Connecting both a WiFi card and a wired network card to L-NET causes Unit detection problems. Disable the WiFi
card or connect it to another network that uses a different subnet prefix.
— It is recommended to dedicate the network to control and monitoring of the L-Acoustics Units. If other devices are
sharing the network:
— Make sure that they are assigned to different IP addresses than those of the L-Acoustics Units to avoid
communication conflicts.
— Do not expose LA4X with hardware version ID1, ID2 or ID3, LA4, and LA8 to multicast audio over IP traffic to
prevent flooding their network interface and making the connection to LA NWM unstable.

Compatibility

Third-party control

Systems using third-party control solutions such as Crestron®, Extron®, or Q-SYS™

Owners and End-Users of systems using third-party control solutions must contact their Systems Integrator first
to assess if updating is relevant to their system.
Minimum versions required for compatibility:
— Q-SYS plugin for 16-channel amplified controllers: 1.8.2
— Q-SYS plugin for 4-channel amplified controllers: 1.7.3
— Q-SYS plugin for P1 networked audio processor: 1.5.3

Refer to the Q-SYS technical bulletins, available for download from the L-Acoustics website.

Firmware version

— Verify that all Units are running the same firmware version.
— Run at least firmware version [Link].
— LA NWM from version 2.5.1 no longer detects LA4/LA8 Units running on firmware version 1.x. To update LA4/LA8
Units running on firmware version 1.x, use LA NWM 2.4.4. Refer to the LA NWM Installation technical bulletin in
the downloaded package.
— LA NWM from version 3.2.0 can no longer update LA4X Units running on firmware version 1.5 or lower. To update
LA4X Units running on firmware version 1.5 or lower, use LA NWM 2.4.4. Refer to the LA NWM Installation
technical bulletin in the downloaded package.
— If downgrading firmware to a version prior 2.10, use the LA NWM version that contains the target firmware version
(refer to the LA NWM and firmware compatibility issues technical bulletin). Downgrade the amplified controllers
first. Then downgrade P1s. When downgrading P1, wait for their front panels to show Waiting for reboot and
power cycle them.

Custom Presets

— Custom presets designed with this version of LA NWM cannot be used with earlier versions of LA NWM.
— Custom presets designed from presets of version 1.x or 2.x must be rebuilt using this version of LA NWM and
presets of version 3.x minimum.

4 Release pack readme (ML) version 1.0

Release notes

Sessions

— LA NWM 1 *.system files cannot be opened with this version of LA NWM. It is advised to redesign the session from
scratch.
— LA NWM 2 *.lses or *.nwsys files can be opened by this version of LA NWM. If they contain 1.x or 2.x presets, they
must be replaced with corresponding presets in version 3.x or higher.
— Sessions designed with this version of LA NWM (*.nwm files) cannot be used with earlier versions of LA
NWM.
— Session files cannot be saved with names containing non-ASCII characters.

Presets

Compatibility issues may occur when working from a session file with Units using older presets: it is
recommended to update the session file by loading for each unit the corresponding preset from the preset
library embedded in LA NWM.
Refer to the LA NWM Optimization technical bulletin in the Complementary_documents folder of the
downloaded Drive system zip file.
— LA12X requires presets of version 5.4 minimum.
— LA2Xi requires presets of version 6.4 minimum.
— Presets files designed from presets of version 1.x or 2.x must be replaced with presets files built using this version
of LA NWM and presets of version 3.x minimum.
— [K1], [KARADOWNK1] and [K2 xxx] presets from versions 4.x and later of the preset library are not compatible
with [K1] and [KARADOWNK1] from versions of the preset library prior to 4.0.
— Presets for Kara, ARCS II and Kudo from versions of the LA8 preset library prior to 4.0 are not compatible with
LA4X.
Refer to the Preset Guide included in the downloaded package for more information.
Refer to the LA NWM and firmware compatibility issues technical bulletin included in the downloaded package for
more information.

LA2Xi output operating modes

The SE|SE|SE|SE operating mode is compatible with all presets. In case of conflict between the preset to load and the
current operating mode, switch LA2Xi operating mode to SE|SE|SE|SE as an intermediate step for loading the preset.
Eventually, switch the operating mode again (if applicable).
Bridging channels is possible on condition that all channels to bridge use a preset of the same preset family.
When parameters are not identical between channels to bridge, the parameters of the first channel prevail and are
applied to the other channel(s) of the bridge.
The PBTL mode must be activated on LA2Xi by connecting the PAR pin of the back panel to a pin.

Unexpected disconnection

If the Message Center indicates that a Unit has disconnected while loading a session, reload the session.

AVB

— Only AVB bridges can be used to create AVB domains. Inserting non-AVB LA4X or LA4/LA8 between Talkers and
Listeners will split the domain and make streaming impossible between devices located apart of these non-AVB
bridges. Refer to the base concepts in the embedded Help.
— When using redundant networks, never bridge both networks together. Make sure in particular that:
— Units that are connected to both networks are set to redundancy mode.
— Units that do not support redundancy mode, such as LA4X, LA4 or LA8, are connected only to the Primary
network. Refer to the embedded Help for guidance on how to set up an AVB redundant network.
— When using a macOS computer equipped with two AVB-enabled Ethernet adapters, the computer is not
connected to both networks.
— WiFi NIC (Network Interface Card) are not supported. Refer to the AVB troubleshooting section of the embedded
Help for the NIC selection.

Release pack readme (ML) version 1.0 5

Release notes

— On macOS Big Sur, L-Acoustics does not currently recommend to connect the Ethernet Virtual Audio AVB entity to
P1 or amplified controller Listeners. Such connections are memorized in cache by macOS Big Sur to be restored
in case of disconnection between macOS Big Sur and the Listeners. When macOS Big Sur reconnects, it removes
the Talkers currently connected to these Listeners without notice and replaces them with the Virtual Audio entity.
When necessary, it is possible to stop this behavior and to delete the cache by executing the following commands
in Terminal (admin rights required):

sudo rm "/Library/Application Support/Apple/[Link]"

sudo killall -9 avbdeviced

In case of issues, make sure to check the the AVB troubleshooting section of the embedded Help.

M1

Double-check all unit-to-group assignations and group-to-location assignations in the Setup page before recording
measurements in the Tuning page, as modifying assignation after recording can lead to deleting measurement, and to
make sure all "parent" groups will show up properly in the EQ tab, or the Autoalign tab.
Mic levels in M1 Record tab are reported pre-mute, on light gray background when mics are muted. Unmute mics
before recording.
When measuring through P1 busses, it is recommended to disable LPF / HPF / Notch filters, and then apply these
filters in M1 to get a correct modelized response.
Sweep settings in Record tab: refer to the embedded Help.
Recommendations to align the system:
— Set polarity to + on all amplified controllers and all P1 busses before beginning.
— Manage polarity changes only from the Autoalign tab in the M1 control panel.
— To align parts of the system which are already aligned elements, iterate using extra groups containing the aligned
parts, for instance:
— When subs and main have been aligned and front fills has to be aligned with them, use the extra group “Sub
+Main” to align subs and mains with the group “Front-Fills” rather than aligning the sub groups and the mains
groups with the front fills in the Autoalign tab.
— When done, use “Sub+Main+FF” to time-align “Out-Fills”.
Autofilter modes and M1 measurements
M1 cannot model changes of zoning group parameters into source measurements. After changing the Autofilter
mode of a source that has already been measured, repeat the measurement. Refer to Autofilter active - mode
in the embedded Help.

RTA

Before using the RTA interface in the Live page, enable P1 Live Mode in the Setup page, using the Operating Mode
selector.
When using multiple P1 units on a network, it is recommended to enable P1 Live Mode on one P1 only. Make sure that
P1 Live Mode is disabled on the other P1 units. If it is necessary to use RTA on multiple P1 units, never enable P1 Live
Mode on more than three P1 units.

Solution de contournement : redémarrez les
unités.

8 Release pack readme (ML) version 1.0

Solution de contournement : rechargez la session.

Page Tuning

Solution de contournement : exportez la réponse

Limitations LA7.16(i)

Release pack readme (ML) version 1.0 9

suivantes : VNC, TightVNC, TeamViewer, Splashtop...

sudo rm "/Library/Application Support/Apple/[Link]"

sudo killall -9 avbdeviced

Common questions

The absence of PIN protection display on standby units could pose security risks as it might prevent operators from promptly identifying which units are protected, potentially leading to unauthorized access. As a solution, ensuring that all units are either powered on or using alternative means like logging management to verify protection status can prevent unauthorized configurations. Operators should keep accurate records of which units require protection and verify their status manually before performing maintenance or other operations to mitigate any security vulnerabilities .

When a firmware update for LA7.16 fails, the suggested workaround is to reboot the unit(s). This action reinitializes the updating sequence, allowing the system to attempt the firmware installation anew, potentially resolving transient errors that led to the initial failure. This approach helps maintain update continuity by ensuring that the device does not remain in an inconsistent state post-failure, thereby enabling successful completion of the firmware update process upon a subsequent attempt .

Bridging both primary and secondary networks in a redundant setup is advised against because it can create feedback loops, leading to network congestion and potential total network failure. Keeping primary and secondary networks separate ensures that failover mechanisms function correctly, providing seamless service continuation in case of a network path failure. Proper segregation of network paths reduces the risk of data storms and ensures that each network serves as an independent backup to the other, thereby maintaining system reliability and resilience .

To import a reference curve such as a system response measured in another session into the M1 controller, it is necessary to export the post-EQ impulse response (IR) of the reference curve. Then, add a virtual amplified controller to the workspace, assign it to a group, and assign this group to a location. Conduct a measurement using noise in an open loop, and finally, import the reference IR using the Maintenance menu in the EQ tab. This workaround allows for calibrating the system with consistent reference points despite the inability to directly import external reference curves due to system limitations .

To manage parameter conflicts between virtual and physical units in LA7.16(i), users can manually ensure that all units are aligned with the correct configurations before deployment. Implementing a standard procedure for parameter verification and utilizing pre-configuration checklists can help in identifying potential mismatches. If automated solutions are unavailable, documenting configuration states and employing systematic comparison methods between units could also resolve discrepancies, ensuring consistent operational states across virtual and physical devices .

LA7.16(i) units have several limitations, including the Unit Matcher not being fully supported, the inability to manage layout family conflicts, lack of settings protection, and unsupported Show Mode. These limitations necessitate additional manual configuration and monitoring. For example, when importing projects or preset layouts, operators need to manually restore group assignations. Furthermore, the lack of support for multiple selections in certain setup menus restricts efficient batch processing of unit configurations. These factors may complicate the setup and coordination of AV systems using LA7.16(i) units .

Setting L-Acoustics units to contiguous IP addresses reduces the IP address range that needs to be scanned by the network management software, thus streamlining the detection and configuration process. This optimization minimizes network overhead and shortens the time required for scanning, allowing for faster setup and real-time management of the devices. It also lowers the likelihood of communication errors by reducing the complexity of the network path that data packets must traverse, enhancing overall network performance and stability .

The recommendation to connect LA4X units with hardware version ID1, ID2, or ID3, LA4, and LA8 after other types of amplified controllers in an L-NET daisy-chain ensures that the network traffic is managed correctly and communication conflicts are minimized. Using a single computer running LA NWM over the network and connecting it to the Primary network only helps maintain stability by avoiding double network connections that could lead to conflicts. Not using WiFi between the controlling computer and the units prevents latency and connectivity issues, thereby improving performance. Additionally, employing a 1 Gb/s Ethernet network and setting amplified controllers on contiguous IP addresses optimizes network scanning efficiency and performance .

Older versions of K1 and KARADOWNK1 presets being incompatible with versions 4.x and later of the preset library is attributed to significant updates and enhancements in the preset definition and execution mechanisms. Changes in features, parameters, or algorithms can increase sonic accuracy and system efficiency in newer versions, necessitating a transition to updated presets for new functionalities. Consequently, maintaining backward compatibility may compromise performance gains that the new presets offer, thereby prompting the need for system upgrades and realignment with the latest software capabilities .

The limitation of the P1 media player not supporting USB keys with storage capacities more than 32 GB restricts the amount of media that can be directly accessed via USB, which may affect the workflow for users needing to handle large datasets or multiple media files. Users must either compress files to fit the available capacity or use alternative storage methods or devices that are compatible with the player's limitations, potentially adding extra steps and complexity in media management and transfer procedures .
