Karnataka chief minister has signed cabinet decision to release to
release 6.5 lacs hectares from the deemed forest classification
Notes:
Deemed forest are recorded as forests in government records
These are the lands that have characteristics of forest respective of
ownerships
once the forest are deemed they cannot be de-reserved or utilise it for
non forest purposes without any notice of the centre
These are compromising about 1% of India's forest land
Preservation of forest areas in India to be continuously monitored by the
supreme court

Article 124(2):
States that every judge of Supreme court shall be appointed by the
President of India after Consulting judges of Supreme court and High
court
Article - 217:
States that the Judge of a High court shall be appointed by the
president in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the governor of
the state
Evolution of collegium System:
It is the system of appointment and transfer of judges that has evolved
through judgements of the SC
First Judges Case - 1981
2nd Judges Case - 1993
SC introduced the collegium system holding that consultation really
means concurrence
It added that it was not the CJ
Individual opinion but an institutional opinion formed in an consultation
with two senior most judges in the SC
3rd Judges Case:
The court opined the consultation process to be adopted by the Chief
Justice of India requires consultation of plurality judges
He should consult a collegium of four senior most judges of supreme
court and even if two judges give an adverse opinion he should not
send the recommendation to the government
Judges of the higher Judiciary or appointed only through the collegium system
6. Aadhar
UIDAI has a opposed a petition by Delhi Police seeking directions from
the High Court that would allow investigators to match suspect picture
and fingerprints from the Crime scene with the Aadhar database to help
identify the accused in a case of Murder
Delhi Police approached Delhi high court under Section 33 of the
Aadhar act according to which a judge of a High Court can order the
disclosure of information on identity in certain cases
According to Section 29 the UIDAI is prohibited by the law from sharing
any code biometric information fingerprint iriscan or any such biological
attribute with any agency for any reason or whatsoever
Unique Identification Authority of India: UIDAI
It is a statutory authority established on 12th July 2016 by
the Government of India under the jurisdiction of the ministry of
Electronics and information technology following the provisions of
the Aadhar act 2016
The UIDAI is mandated to assign a 12 digit Unique Identification UID
number (Aadhar) to all the residents of India

The center has reconstituted the inter state Council
Headed by the Prime Minister :The council will comprise 6 Union
Ministers besides the chief ministers of 28 states and union territories
with legislature and administrators of union territories without a
legislature
It will also have ten Union members as permanent invitees
The government has also reconstituted the standing committee of the
council with the Union Home minister as its chairman
According to Article 263 of the Indian Constitution an Inter state
Council may be constituted
