The table compare the amount of Fairtrade Coffee and Bananas’s sales in five specific nations
between 1999 and 2004.
It is clear that Fairtrade-labeled’s sales in UK was dominated by almost the period shown in both
Coffee and Bananas’s sales. Likewise, UK is also the country had the dramatic changed in both
categories after five-year. Notably, the sales figure for Fairtrade Bananas just only rose in three
out of five countries shown compared with the significant increased in all five countries of
Coffee’s sales.
In 1999, Denmark had the highest position of Fairtrade Coffee’s sale at €1.8 million. Conversely,
the significant expenditure for Fairtrade Bananas was UK at €15 million. In 2004, it is noticeable
that there was a dramatic increase in Coffee data from €1.5 million to massive €20 million after
five years. Similarly, Switzerland’s data was also doubled at €6 million. Regarding the money
spent on Bananas, it was rose by €4.5 and €32 million compared to initially figures at €1 and €15
for UK, Switzerland respectively.
Looking at the remaining countries with stable figures, it is went up to €2 million lower for
Denmark, Belgium and Sweden’s sales data for Fairtrade Coffee. In term of the revenue from
Fairtrade Bananas, Denmark was the third country has an upward trend from €0.6 million to €4
million after five-year period. While, the reverse was true for the remaining countries in
Fairtrade Bananas, it is fell by €0.8 to €0.1 million in Belgium and Sweden correspondingly.
