Verb - The 'Doing Word'

A verb is known as a "doing word."

Types of Verbs:

- Main Verbs

- Helping Verbs (Auxiliary Verbs)

- Primary Auxiliaries: Be, Do, Have

- Modal Auxiliaries: Can, Could, May, Might, Shall, Will, Would, Should, Must, Ought to

- Marginal Modals: Used to, Need, Dare

Helping Verbs vs. Main Verbs:

| Helping Verb | Main Verb | Both (Helping + Main) |

| Do, Be, Have | Do work, Be happy, Have lunch | Used to, Need, Dare (depending on context)

Examples:

1. "I am used to sleeping late at night."

- "am" = Helping Verb
