Castle, Zoo and Festival in Edinburgh between 1980 and 2010.

Overall , the number of tourists who visited castle and zoo witnessed an upward trend,
while the opposite pattern was seen in Festival and Aquarium.

Starting at 25%, the percentage of castle visitors climbed gradually until it reached a peak at
45% in 1995. Despite being followed by a significant decrease to 30% in 2010, the rate of
people visiting the castle was the highest point at the end of the period. As regards the zoo,
the period from 1980 to 2000 observed a oscillation between 10% and 15% in the rate of
visitors , before rising dramatically by 10% in the next 10-year duration.

Conversely, the figures for travelers to Festival started at 30% , then it exceeded castle’s rate
in 1985, followed by a period of stability in the rest of the time span. The contrast tendency
was shown in Aquarium. Although it rise dramatically by 16% in the first 15-year duration ,
the number of visitors dropped sharply to 20% in 1990 and continued its downward trend
until hitting the lowest point at just under 10% in 2010.
