VERBAL AVERAGE FINDING QUESTIONS

Q.12) A boy has average of 50 marks in 5 tests how much should he get in next test to
have average of 70?
 The average of 5 tests is 50, so the total score for the first 5 tests
is 50×5=25050×5=250
 To have an average of 70 after 6 tests, the total score for all 6 tests must be
 70×6=420
 The total score for the first 5 tests is 250, so the score for the next test must
be 420−250=170
Therefore, the boy needs to get 170 in the next test to have an average of 70.

Q.13) Saleem has average of 60 marks in 4 subjects. Sakeem average drops to 58 after
attempting next test find grade?
 Saleem's total score in 4 subjects = 60 * 4 = 240
 Saleem's total score after the next test = 58 * 5 = 290.
 Saleem's total score in 5 subjects = 240 + x (grade of the next test).
 240 + x = 290.
 x = 290 - 240 = 50.

VERBAL SERIES RELATED QUESTIONS

Tips:
 Observe the question carefully
 Look at the pattern of change.
 You will get your answer
Complete the series: 2, 6, 14, 30, 62, ?
Explanation:
 2*2+2=6
 6 * 2 + 2 = 14
 14 * 2 + 2 = 30
 30 * 2 + 2 = 62
 62 * 2 + 2 = 126
Complete the series A, c, f, j, o, ?
Trick: Move forward in the alphabet with consecutive increasing gaps.
1. A+2=c
2. c+3=f
3. f+4=j
4. j+5=o
5. +6=u
Complete the series: b, e, j,?
Trick: Increment the position of the letter in the alphabet.
Explanation:
 B -> 2nd letter, move 2 positions ahead+1 =e
 e -> 5th letter, move 4 positions ahead+1=j
 j -> 10th letter, move 8 positions ahead+1=s
 S=19th letter.
Complete the series 66, 63, 57, ?

Trick: The differences themselves seem to be increasing by 3 with each step. So, the
next difference would be 6 + 3 = 9.
Explanation:
 66 - 63 = 3
 63 - 57 = 6
 Now, to find the next number in the series, we need to subtract 9 from the last
number (57):
 57 - 9 = 48
 So, the next number in the series is 48.

Complete the series: 115, 55, 170, 65, 235, ?

Trick: Add the two, you will get the third.
Explanation:
 115+55 = 170
 235+65= 300

Find the next number in the series 2, 6, 14, 30, 62,?

Trick: The differences between the terms are doubling with each step.
Explanation:
 6-2=4
 14 - 6 = 8
 30 - 14 = 16
 62 - 30 = 32
 Now, let's try to find a pattern for generating the next difference:
 32 * 2 = 64
 To find the next number in the series, we add the next difference (64) to the last
number (62):
 62 + 64 = 126

Complete the series:2, 6, 14, 30, 62, ?
Trick: Trick: Double the previous number and then add 2.
Explanation:
 2*2+2=6
 6 * 2 + 2 = 14
 14 * 2 + 2 = 30
 30 * 2 + 2 = 62
 62 * 2 + 2 = 126
Find the next term in the series z26, x24, v22, ?
Trick: Move back in the alphabet with consecutive decreasing gaps of 2
Explanation:
 Now, to find the next term, we move two letters back from 'v', which gives us the
letter 't', and subtract 2 from its position in the alphabet (which is 20):
 t20: The letter 't' is the 20th letter in the alphabet.
 So, the next term in the series is 't20'.
