Speech Title: OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION (OBE)

Abstract: The outcomes of a traditional curriculum are not normally defined, and the student learning
depends on the methods of teaching and learning. Examinations and grades are used to measure the
student learning. In an outcome-based, the curriculum is designed to develop specific student
learning outcomes (SLOs), that is, what the students would be able to do after the completion of a
course or a degree program. There must be a continuous assessment and evaluation process in place to
determine the degree of achievement of student learning and for program improvement. This
presentation identifies the needs for developing student critical thinking ability through exercises of
cognitive level. This also emphasizes on the needs for the quality of education rather than the quantity
of course contents. The main elements of knowledge management are identifies.
