1 PURPOSE
To describe the maintenance support beam assembly of steel towers of GCT.
2 SCOPE
This document applies to all lower sections of steel towers.
3 DEFINITIONS AND ACRONYMS
Maintenance support beam: Is the transverse beam mounted on the lower section of the towers whose
mission is to provide support for lifting and proper placement of ground cabinets.

4 GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
To avoid damage in the paint the use of carpets, floor protections or similar protection systems
is required.
The use of overshoes is recommended.
In case of doubt or discrepancy, don’t hesitate to get in contact with Gamesa.
Once the work is finished all the waste must be cleaned.
5 DESCRIPTION
This instruction must be used just in case the maintenance beam drawing is not clear enough.
5.1 ASSEMBLY OF MAINTENANCE SUPPORT BEAM
The maintenance support assembly consists of: maintenance beam, two brackets welded to the shell and
beam connection system to media that consists of two bolts, two nuts and four washers.
The steps that must be followed for a correct assembly are:
1. As a previous step, we should have the brackets welded to the shells since the internal elements welding
operation and also inspected by penetrated liquids.
2. Once we are in the internal elements assembly process we proceed to place the beam in its position and
screw it to the bracket with bolt-nut and two washers.
The following photos show details of the tightening of the beam to the bracket.
