Safe Work Method Statement

This Method Statement describes the specific safe working methods which will be used to carry out the
described work. It gives details of work procedure with control measures to counter health and safety issues
related to this work. The listed content of this Method Statement can be changed/modified subjected to job
scope/customer specifications but task specific method statement once finalized & approved, that should not be
modified during work execution without permission from the approving authority.

Title: - INSULATION

Scope of work: -

INSTALLATION OF INSULATION

• Clean the area of duct to be insulated to make it dust free, apply thinner / cleaner
wherever necessary to make the area grease free.
• Proper inspection to be completed on duct.
• Joint, routing, all inline items installation to be verified and confirmed.
• Duct leak test to be completed if it required.
• Install insulation fastener on the duct surface using approved adhesive. Allow 8 to 10
hours for the adhesive to cure.
• Distance between fastener to be maintained as per drawing and manufacturer
recommendation.
• Install approved type insulation with aluminium foil finish for rectangular ducts.
• Secure the insulation slabs with self-locking washers. Trim all projecting pins flush with
the insulation. Seal all the joints and visible sections of insulation with aluminium foil
tape.
• Using the proper clothing and foster, finishing coat shall be done if required.
• After foster application allow the duct to get dry as per manufacturer recommendation.
• Install Grills, Diffusers, registers, and Louvers as per the approved shop drawings and
• manufacturer’s instructions up on the clearance.
• Ensure access doors are provided wherever necessary as per the approved drawings.
CLADDING OF WEATHER-EXPOSED DUCTS
• If cladding is to be installed covering the duct insulation, instead of securing the
insulation with pins/washers which might cause lumps / impressions on the cladding
sheets, the insulation slabs shall be adhered on to the duct surface using approved
adhesive.
• Install corner angles covering the corners of duct insulation as per approved drawing.
Secure the corner angles with aluminium foil tape at regular intervals.
• Fabricate & install cladding sheet of approved material and thickness covering the
insulated ducts (weather-exposed) and secure with rivets.

C&W Site Manager -


• Site manager shall prepare method statement & risk assessment in advance and avail the
approval from concern person before start of activity.
• Ensure the Work permit is availed by contractor before start of activity.
• Issue work permit to contractor supervisor only after physical verification of work location.
• Check the weather condition before start of work while work at height even at ground level.
• Coordination with Safety Departments for continuous monitoring of activity.
• Ensure that emergency Assembly point is identified and communicated with the entire site
team.
• Ensure the Present of Contractor HVAC Engineer/HVAC Supervisor for continuous
monitoring of activity in work location.
Contractor Site Manager/Site Engineer/
• Monitor Covid protocols as per RA
• Cross check the location before start of the work.
• Discuss the working method with site execution team prior to commencement of execution.
• Check PPE’s Helmet, safety shoes, Safety glass, safety harness, hand gloves
(cotton/rubber), Gum boots etc.
• Check the Work permit avail from CW.
• Check and ensure screening the fitness of worker for their competency before deploying at
job.
• Ensure continuous monitoring of activity in work location.
• Ensure barricading and signage for working area.
• Access route to be decided and communicated to all concerned.
EHS Engineer-
• Monitor Covid protocols as per RA
• Check PPE’s Helmet, safety shoe, Safety goggles, ear plug, safety harness, hand gloves
(cotton/rubber) & Gum boots.
• Arrange Toolbox meeting with staff and workers before starting the activity.
• Ensure the workers are screened for their competency, before deploying on the job.
• Review the Work permit along with Approved method statement and Approved Risk
Assessment for this work.
• Work Permit to be issued after checking the safety requirements.
• Close monitoring of activities involved and emergency preparedness.
• Barricading requirements to be decided and communicated to concerned.
• Check House Keeping.
• Issue ‘Stop Work’ in the event of any serious safety violation.
• Implementation of all instructions on EHS as directed by the CW& FIDELITY management
from time to time.
• Explain all safety rules and safe practices to all contractors’ staff.
• Arrange Toolbox meeting with staff and workers before starting the activity and provide
induction training.
• Report all unsafe act & condition, incidents/near misses to the superior.
Operative/Worker-
• Participate in Toolbox Talks.
• Follow all instructions & safety guidelines given by the supervisors.
• Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of workplace / access.
• Use correct Tools & Plant and report any damage or fault to supervisors for corrective
measures.
• Use correct Personal Protective Equipment as directed and report any deficiencies to the
Supervisor.
• Report all unsafe act & condition, incidents/near misses to the superior.

8.0 Emergency Provisions: -

In case of emergency:
• First Aid boxes, fire extinguishers are available.
• Site Supervisor must report any incident immediately to Fidelity.
• Site Manager to alert First Aider immediately and he should reach at spot with first aid box and
stretcher and provide first aid treatment.
• Intimate in case of emergency or serious incident.
• Safe assembly point communicated to all workers.
• Site Manager to call ambulance depending on the nature of incident.
• Site Manager Alerts to doctor and ask for treatment.
• Site manager to communicate to Project Manager immediately
• Ambulance Stationed at Site.

9.0 Waste Disposal/Housekeeping and Environmental issues:-
