Problems
1. Calculate armature torque for a 4-pole motor having 774 conductors ,
two paths in parallel,24mWb flux per pole, when total armature current
is 50A.
2. A 250V, 4 pole wave wound series motor has 782 conductors on its
armature. It has armature and series field resistance of 0.75Ω. The motor
takes a current of 40A find its speed and gross torque developed if it has
a flux per pole of 25mWb.
3. A 220V shunt motor takes 105A. The armature resistance is 0.08 Ω and
shunt field resistance is 44 Ω. The motor runs at 950 r.p.m. if iron and
frictional losses are equal to 2kW, find –
i) b.h.p
ii)shaft torque
iii)total torque
Problems
5. The output of a certain shunt motor is 5 b.h.p when taking 50A at 100 V
and running at a speed of 750 r.p.m. Armature resistance is 0.06 Ω and
shunt field resistance is 50 Ω. Find –
i) Iron and frictional losses
ii) Armature torque
iii) Shaft torque
6. A 230 V dc shunt motor takes a current of 40A and runs at 1100 r.p.m. If
shunt field resistance is 230 Ω and armature resistance is 0.25 Ω, find torque
developed by the armature.
