6) Deflector Wall:
A deflector (RCC M20) wall of height egual to d/s FSD/10 i.e 0.39m. However
provide height 0,40m above D/s CBL proposed at the end of cistern i.e., @
+499,456m.
499-85
7) Design of Floor:
Uplift pressure calculation is arrived based on Khosla's theory. Agency has
proposed the floor thickness as 1.50m, 1.50, 0.80m, & 0.40m respectively at a
distance of toe of the glacis, End of Baffle platform, Middle of cistern floor and the
end of floor. The above floor thickness is scrutinized in this office as per CWC
Manual, the floor thicknesses are arrived as 1.70m, 1.50m, 1.10m and 0.70m
respectively at a distance of toe of the glacis, End of Baffle platform, Middle of
cistern floor and the end of floor. The thickness of floor at the toe of glacis is also
checked for unbalanced head due to formation of standing wave. The floor is
proposed in VCC(M20 using 40mm maximum size of aggregate.
The thickness at the glacis of the crest and sloped portion of glacis is
proposed as 170Omm as the foundation strata met with soil.
6554
Exit gradient is checked and it works out to 175
6153
iLe. 1 in 6729 which is
within the limit. D/S cutoff is proposed @ +496,300m.
8) WEARING COAT:
M20
150 mm thick wearing coat in VCC M25 is proposed over the floor concrete
using 20 mm maximum size aggregate.
9) SCOUR LEVEL AND CUT OFFS:
The scour depth calculations are worked out considering the value of f as
4.75 for weathered rock. The maximum scour level is worked out as
+500.522M on
U/S side and +496.337M on. DIS side. However, cut-offs are
provided up to
(499.50ØM on U/S and +496.300M on D/S respectively.
