Abstract
Remote healthcare monitoring using the Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing the delivery of
medical services by enabling real-time, continuous observation of patient health parameters outside
of clinical environments. The proposed system integrates wearable sensors, microcontrollers, and
cloud services to monitor vital signs such as heart rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood
pressure. These devices transmit data wirelessly to a centralized platform accessible by healthcare
providers, allowing timely intervention and remote care. The system architecture comprises three
key layers: the sensing layer (wearable medical sensors), the network layer (communication
modules like Wi-Fi or GSM), and the application layer (cloud servers and user interfaces for
doctors and patients). Health data is transmitted securely to the cloud, where it is stored, analysed,
and made accessible through a mobile/web dashboard. Alerts are generated if abnormal values are
detected.
This paper highlights the benefits of IoT-based remote monitoring, including improved patient
outcomes, reduced hospital visits, and better chronic disease management. It also addresses
challenges such as device interoperability, data privacy, and system scalability. Future
enhancements may involve integrating machine learning algorithms for predictive diagnostics and
automated health recommendations.
