PREFACE
Assam Lemon, regionally known as Kaji Nemu, is one kind of citrus variety known for
its unique aroma, juiciness, shape and cultural importance in Assam. Assam Lemon or
Kaji Nemu is declared as the state fruit of Assam by the state government on 13
February, 2024 and also attained the GI- tag in the year 2019. Although it has a growing
popularity and potential in both domestic and international markets, the export of Assam
lemon still remains minimal due to several persistent challenges. The purpose of this
study is to draw focus to the key constraints in cultivation practices, pest and disease
management and post-harvest management leads to significant losses and limit in the
shelf life of Assam lemon, further reducing the export viability of the fruit. Subsequently
to understand the future prospects of Kaji Nemu , it also includes a ten-year production
forecast using statistical model. By reviewing already published literature papers and
conducting forecasting analysis through statistical models for the proposed objectives of
this study has been fulfilled. The study concludes that to addressed the constraint it
requires a multi-dimensional strategy involving capacity building, improved access to
inputs, adoption of sustainable pests management techniques, post-harvest infrastructure
development and integration of digital tools for yield forecasting.
