My initial expectations for the class were that we would learn how to take a startup from

an idea to reality, learn about the legal and financial challenges for startups, and gain deeper

insight into the world of business. After my first day of class, I was greatly relieved to know that

it was a small class and that we had a very nice professor. The next few classes were pretty hectic

for high school standards but relaxed for college standards. The transition was nice and it was

nice to begin acquainting myself with all the other students and building relationships. I found

the material in the classes to be very intriguing. I thought the use of articles such as the one on

why TJX is prospering in this retail climate and the discussions to be of great help. They helped

me uncover the business world and notice the reasons behind the successes and failures of

companies. Also, I loved the classes where we analyzed the Shark Tank pitches. Although we

only watched two pitches, I liked analyzing the pitches and trying to learn from the analysis.

Overall, the assignment I liked the most was the TJX Big Idea. Although I initially hated

it as I would have to work with other people who may or may not be dedicated as I am, I liked

being forced to work with a group and adapt to make things happen. The teamwork really helped

me develop communication and leadership skills. It also helped us take on more responsibility

and feel as we are a part of something bigger. The process we had to take in order to create a

successful business plan and presentation was incredibly insightful. Putting the business plan

gave us further insight into why business is hard and all the difficult logistics involved in a

successful business. The presentation required us to practice and practice and master the content

so that we could answer any question and be ready for anything. The class made me realize that

there is more to business than just having an idea and that you truly need to put in hard work for

success. Overall, I will miss the class, all my classmates, and my incredible professor.
