In the contemporary epoch, marked by the rapid ascendancy of Artificial Intelligence (AI),
the enduring significance of language and literature as formative forces in human identity
warrants critical re-examination. This paper explores the complex interplay between evolving
technological paradigms and the timeless human endeavor to articulate selfhood through
linguistic and literary expression. Language, as the quintessential medium of communication
and cognition, not only reflects but actively constructs individual and collective identities.
Literature, in turn, serves as a repository of cultural memory and imaginative engagement,
providing a narrative framework through which humans negotiate their place in an
increasingly mechanized world.

As AI systems increasingly mediate human interactions and creative processes, the


boundaries between human and machine-generated language blur, posing profound questions
about authenticity, creativity, and the essence of personhood. This investigation foregrounds
the tension between algorithmic language generation and the uniquely human capacity for
metaphor, symbolism, and emotional nuance. It argues that despite AI’s growing linguistic
prowess, literature retains its irreplaceable role in fostering critical reflection, empathy, and
ethical awareness—dimensions central to human identity.

Furthermore, the paper considers how literature adapts and responds to technological
