Virgin of Antipolo - Teodora Alonzo bowed for safe delivery of Rizal

Fr. Rufino Collantes - Rizal was baptized in the Catholic Church

June 22 1861 - He was baptized when he was 3 days old

Fr. Pedro Casanas - His ninong (godfather)

Jose - His was named by his mother who was devotee of Saint Joseph

Fr. Leoncio Lopez - the one who signed the baptismal certificate of Rizal’s birth

Leutenant General Jose Lemery – the Govenor General of the Phil. during Rizal’s birth

❖ Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda (7th children)

❖ Francisco Mercado Rizal (1818-1898) -born in Biñan Laguna

- Studied Latin and Philosophy at College of San Jose in Manila

- He was called by Rizal a “model of fathers"

- died in manila on January 5 1898 at the age of 83.

❖ Dona Teodora Alonzo (1820-1911)

- born in Manila on Nov. 8. 1826 and studied ort College of Santa Rosa

- first teacher of Rizal

- died on August 16, 1911 at 85 years old

Mercado - real name of Rizal Family (adopted by his great great grandfather) 1701
Rizal - acquired as 2nd surname given by spanish alcalde Mayor.
- he used this to look like an iligitimate son.
