On modern machines, problems can be encountered. For instance, sound card
drivers, video drivers, modern hardware, hard disks that need defragmenting
or scanned and fixed for errors.

Please note:-
Problems have been reported where Windows locks up when the game is closed.
Please avoid using Alt+Tab and Alt+F4 and exit the game using the in-game
menu system instead.

Here is a list of things to try should you encounter problems with your
installation.
1. Make sure the game has been installed properly.
2. Make sure DirectX has been installed properly.
3. Make sure you have the latest Windows drivers for your video card and that
they are DirectX compatible.
4. Make sure you have the latest Windows drivers for your sound card and that
they are DirectX compatible.
5. Make sure Virtual Memory is enabled on your system.
6. Run ScanDisk.
7. Run Disk Defragmenter.
8. Clean out old temp (.TMP) files from the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP directory on your
hard drive (from Windows Explorer).
9. Make sure you do not have any Anti-Virus utilities running resident prior
to playing.
10. Make sure you do not have any 3rd party Windows memory management utilities
running resident prior to playing.
11. Make sure you do not have any 3rd party Windows disk caching utilities
running resident prior to playing.
12. Make sure you do not have Norton's Crash Protector running resident prior
to playing.
13. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game.
14. Try exiting the game, rebooting your machine, and re-entering the game.
15. Run the system file checker tool to scan and fix system files :-

18. Locate the executable inside your steam installation.
It will be something like:-
“c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\HogsofWar\warhogs_.exe”.
Then right click the exe and select properties and on the compatibility tab
check
“Run as administrator”
19. As in 18, locate the executable. Right click it and select “Properties”.
Select the compatibility tab.
Check “Run this program in compatibility mode for:
“ and select Windows XP Service Pack 3, or try others
20. Make sure your version of windows is fully up to date
21. Reboot your machine and run a memory test from the bios or
run a memory test another way
22. Is windows defender running, try disabling that
23. If you are running it on a computer that is running on a server network,
please try on a computer that isn’t.
Note that if your system crashes to the desktop, you should reboot your
computer before starting a new play session. Otherwise, DirectDraw or
DirectSound may be in a locked state, and the game will be unable to use
your sound or video hardware
