Appeal for Postponement of MBBS Exams

A formal appeal is being requested by the 2023 MBBS batch to postpone upcoming university examinations due to insufficient academic instruction time, as they will have only completed 8 months by the exam date, contrary to NMC guidelines requiring 12 months. Additionally, the overlap of supplementary exams for the 2022 batch with the regular exams for the 2023 batch further complicates the situation. The appeal aims to ensure compliance with academic standards and adequate preparation time for students.

Subject: Request to Submit Formal Appeal for Postponement of University Examinations

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am writing on behalf of the 2023 MBBS batch to respectfully request that the college submit a formal
appeal to the university regarding the postponement of the upcoming university examinations.

Our second-year academic session commenced on 13th November 2023, and by the time the
examinations begin in July, the batch will have completed only 8 months of academic instruction. As per
the guidelines issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC), a minimum of 12 months of academic
duration is required for the completion of the second-year MBBS course before appearing for the
university exams.

Additionally, the pre-university examinations are scheduled to begin on 23rd July 2025 and will continue
until 2nd August 2025, including both theoretical and practical assessments. Meanwhile, regular lectures
are scheduled to continue until 30th July, which further compresses the time available for dedicated
preparation for the university examinations.

Moreover, we have been informed that the supplementary examinations for the 2022 batch are being
conducted concurrently with the regular exams of the 2023 batch. As per established academic norms
and previous practices under the NMC regulations, it is typically advised that supplementary exams of
one batch should not be conducted on the same dates as the regular university exams of a succeeding
batch.

In light of these circumstances, we earnestly request the college administration to formally approach the
university with an appeal for the postponement of the university examinations for the 2023 batch. This will
ensure that the exams are conducted in compliance with NMC guidelines and provide adequate time for
academic preparation.

We hope you will consider our concerns and take the necessary steps to address this matter urgently in
the best interest of the students and institutional integrity.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Yours sincerely,
Deven Chahar
