Generation Z— individuals born between 1996 and 2012—begins to descend upon

campuses. Just like their Millennial predecessors, Gen Z has been raised with technology
easily accessible; however, the level at which technology has been incorporated into their
everyday lives has been unlike that of any prior generation.

Gen Zers have never known a world in which they could not instantly connect and have
information and communication channels immediately at their fingertips. Thus, many in this
generation prefer to socialize online rather than face-to-face, a change which is both
positively and negatively affecting society.

generation to be self-aware, self- learners, self-reliant and entrepreneurial. Other

GENERATION Z

Generation Z is the group where people born after Millenials were born. Their
timeline ranges from 1996 to 2012. Accessible and advanced technology are present by the
time generation Z was born. This generation lives in a new and innovative society. The past
generation did not experience the leisure that this generation today has.

Due to the high technology that generation Z experiences nowadays, they are used
to it and it is difficult to stray from it. Communication, connection and information are easily
accomplished by the generation. Socializing and transactions are much convenient to do
online as it requires less effort and it is easier.

In a 2015 research that has an objective to examine the characteristics of


generation Z, it was found that individuals from this generation are independent. They were
known to be more self dependent, self reliant, self learner and self aware as well. The
generation is determined and has a desire to make all things possible and has a dominating
personality.
