privilege.
Build rapport with client. Get to know them. What are their interests and hobbies? What was
their childhood like? Who do they have for a support system?
Reviewed client’s bail & conditions
Reviewed charges
Reviewed discovery with client
Reminded client that the next court date is:
Confirmed with client that the court and BMV have client’s correct contact information
Advised client to keep counsel, the court, and BMV always apprised of their current contact
information
Advised client not to speak with anyone, except their attorney, about the allegations
Advised client against making statements to law enforcement (ever)
If in custody, advised client that jail calls and visits are recorded
Advised client of minimum & maximum penalties
Advised client of collateral consequences
Advised client of right to plead guilty or not guilty
Advised client of right to trial
