Long distance races
Long-distance races or endurance races are a type of test ofathletics, that
consist of running distances that range from 5,000mup to 42 km that is
they dispute in the trial of themarathon. In theOlympic Gamesthere are only three tests, the
5,000 m, the 10,000 m and themarathon, although at a popular level such distances are run
varied like the twoleagues(about 12,000 m approx.), the fifteen kilometers, thehalf
marathon(21.097 m), or the 30km.
The hour race could also be included in this category, as it covers a
distance between 5,000 m and the marathon, but this one is almost
unknown and is rarely run (army competitions or sports parties
universities). They are popularly the most run distances, given that they require less
innate conditions and do not require excessively hard training to meet them.
In this way, many national capitals have their own marathon, being the most
famous the one ofNewYorkwith around 35,000 registered.
The historically most famous long-distance athletes can be, among all others: the
majority of Spaniards who did not qualify.
