ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to extend my
acknowledgement to several
individuals who have played crucial
roles in the successful completion of
this biology project. Firstly, I would
like to thank our principal for
providing us with the opportunity to
complete this project. My sincere
gratitude goes to my biology teacher
for guiding me throughout the project
and providing me with valuable
feedback.
EXPERIMENT
AIM
the effect of osmotic stress by
administration of hypertonic saline
solution in frog.
Materials Required
Live frog, sodium chloride, distilled
water, beakers, measuring cylinder,
syringe (5 ml), injection needles, balance.
Procedure
1. Weigh 0.9 g, 2 g, 10 g, 12 g and 15 g
of chloride accurately with the help of a
balance. Take six beakers and pour 100
ml of distilled water in each. Now
dissolve the weighed sodium chloride
separately in each beaker to prepare
0.9% (control), 2%, 5%, 10%, 12% and
15% saline solution.
2. Select six live frogs of nearly equal
size and weight. Take 2 ml of 2% saline
solution in a clean syringe with needle.
Give intraperitoneal injection to first
frog, so as to inject 2 ml of 2% saline
solution in the peritoneal cavity of frog.
Similarly, inject 2 ml of 5%, 10%, 12%
and 15% saline solution in the peritoneal
cavity of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th frog
respectively. Inject 2ml of 0.9% saline
solution in the peritoneal cavity of sixth
frog (control).
3. Record daily for any physiological
imbalance in frogs like sluggishness, not
feeding well showing convulscence,
gradually dying or living actively. Record
your result in the observation table.
Observations

2. 2%

4. 10%

RESULT
Higher is the hypertonic solution of
sodium chloride, earlier is the death of
frog.
