PROJECT INFORMATION
Aim of the project: To find out the part of a plant which is used as ingredient?
Objectives:
• Collection of information about different ingredients and the part of the plant from
which it is obtained from our teacher.
• Tabulating the collected information.
• Analyzing and concluding which part of the plant is used as ingredient.
Tools: Questioner and Table sowing the details of ingredients.
Procedure: We have learnt about the ingredients and their sources. I have undertaken this
project to find out the part of the plant that is used as ingredient. As the first step I have
collected some information from our teacher about the ingredients obtained from plants.
Questioner
1. Which part of the plant potato is?
• It is stem that is used as food ingredient in potato plant.
2. What about Carrot, Radish, etc?
• These are all the root part of the plants.
3. From where do we get hing? Or Which part of the plant gives us hing?
• Its resin of the roots of hing plant.
4. Is onion a fruit?
• No, it is a bulb with a part of stem and leaves.
After collecting the information I have tabulated all the information in the following table.

Analysis: In general we get food from plants. We use different parts of the plant as food. In
some plants the roots are used as food. Ex: Carrot, Radish, etc. In some plants we use stem
as food. Ex: Potato, Ginger, etc. Likewise different parts of the plants are used as food such
as leaves, fruits, seeds, etc.
Conclusion: We get food from plants. The part of the plant that stores food is used as
ingredient. So we get food from plants, stem, roots, leaves, fruits and seeds.

Aim of the project: To list out different ingredients and find out the resources.
Objectives of the Project:
• Listing out the different ingredients and their resources in a table.
• Analyzing the collected information and concluding.

Table showing ingredients and their sources.
Procedure: When our teacher was teaching about our food, it is asked where we get all the
ingredients. So I would like to take out this project to find out the resources of ingredients.
As the first step I have listed out the different ingredients and the resources as given below.

• 7 ingredients are gained from plants.
2. How many ingredients are gained from animals?
• 2 ingredients are gained from animals.
3. Are there any ingredients from any other sources?
• Yes, salt is gained from other source i.e. sea.
Conclusion: The things that are used to prepare food are known as ingredients. In general
the ingredients are gained from plants, animals and other sources.
