➤ Not only did he forget the meeting, but he also failed to submit the report.

2. No sooner... than

➤ No sooner had she sat down than the phone rang.


→ Cô ấy vừa ngồi xuống thì điện thoại reo.

3. Were it not for / Had it not been for

➤ Were it not for your help, I wouldn’t have finished on time.


→ Nếu không có sự giúp đỡ của bạn, tôi đã không hoàn thành đúng hạn.
➤ Had it not been for the storm, we would have gone hiking.

4. So + adj + that... / Such + noun + that...

5. It is high time + S + V2/ed

6. As if / As though + past perfect / past simple

7. Sooner or later + clause

8. Only when / Only after / Only by + inversion

9. Be that as it may (formal)
