Understanding Density Through Experiments

The document explains the concept of density, indicating that light objects have low density and heavy objects have high density. It describes an experiment using water, syrup, and oil to demonstrate how different liquids have varying densities, with syrup sinking, water remaining in the middle, and oil floating. Additionally, it mentions testing various objects like a metal screw, grape, bottle cap, and sponge to observe their behavior in the liquids based on their densities.

DENSITY

Density tells us how light or

heavy things are!

Light objects or things have

low density

Heavy objects or things have

high density

For my experiment I have:

1. A Glass
2. Water with food
colouring
3. Syrup
4. Oil

All these liquids have

different densities

(Now pour water, syrup and

oil)
Notice that the syrup sinks to
the bottom. This is because
it’s heavy or has high density

Water has medium density so

it stays in the middle

Oil is light and has low

density.

To prove this, I have a metal

screw, a grape, a bottle cap
and a sponge.
I will drop these objects in the
liquid and let’s see where
they will end up.

I hope I showed you what

density is.

Thank you.
