The past simple tense
The use : We use the past simple to describe an action that is completely finished in the past
Time markers : Yesterday , last………., ago ,date in the past

There are 2 sorts of verbs in English regular verbs eg: ( to visit ,to cook, to like , to play, to watch……………………)
and irregular verbs eg : (to buy , to write, to eat , to drink ,to see………………………………………………………………………)
1) Affirmative form : - Regular verbs S + verb + ed Eg : To like ==>lik ed
-Irregular verbs S + Verb in the past (see the list) Eg: to make made
2) Negative form : S + didn`t / did not + stem eg: I didn`t go to school yesterday
3) Interrogative form : Did +subject + stem +? eg : Did you go to school yesterday ?
WH QUESTIONS = WH words + did + subject +stem +? Eg: What did you do yesterday ?
SPELLING REMARKS :
1) Verbs that finish with a vowel + y Add (ed ) eg : To play played To stay Stayed
2) Verbs that finish with s consonant + y Change the ` Y’ into `I’ and add ( ed ) eg : To study Studied
