I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Identify current trends and issues related to ICT;
Explain the impact of these trends and issues on society and daily life;
Demonstrate responsible use of ICT tools in relation to emerging trends;
Participate in a class discussion or activity about ICT trends and issues with
respect and awareness.
II. Content
Trends in ICT (e.g., Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Artificial
Intelligence, 5G Technology, Virtual/Augmented Reality)
Ethical issues in ICT (e.g., Cyberbullying, Data Privacy, Digital Divide,
Intellectual Property, Online Scams)

A. Preliminary Activities (10 minutes)
Prayer and Greetings

Ask: “What apps or websites do you often use? Why?”
Show images or logos of Facebook, TikTok, ChatGPT, Google Drive, etc.
Transition: “These platforms are part of today’s digital world. Let’s explore
the trends and issues connected to them.”
B. Lesson Proper (35 minutes)
1. Presentation of the Lesson (5 minutes)
Show the lesson objectives on screen or board.
Give a brief overview of ICT and its growing influence on everyday life.
2. Discussion and Explanation (15 minutes)
Trends in ICT:
Cloud Computing – storing data online (Google Drive, Dropbox)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) – smart assistants like Siri, ChatGPT
Internet of Things (IoT) – smart devices like Alexa, smartwatches
Virtual and Augmented Reality – VR games, educational simulations
5G Technology – faster internet connections
Issues in ICT:
Cyberbullying – bullying through digital means
Data Privacy – protecting personal data online
Digital Divide – gap between tech users and non-users
Plagiarism and Piracy – copying without credit
Online Scams and Misinformation – fake news, phishing
Use a simple table or Venn diagram to differentiate trends and issues.
3. Group Activity – “ICT Trends & Issues Poster” (15 minutes)
Divide the class into small groups.
Assign each group one trend or issue.
Task: Create a mini-poster (using manila paper) with:
Definition
Real-life examples
Positive or negative effects
One tip or solution
After 10 minutes, each group gives a 1-minute presentation.
B. Generalization (5 minutes)
Ask guiding questions:
“How do ICT trends help us in school and at home?”
“What are the risks if we’re not responsible ICT users?”
Let students complete this sentence on a sticky note:
“I can be a responsible ICT user by ______.”
Collect and post on a “Digital Citizens Wall.”
IV. Evaluation (5 minutes)
Formative Assessment:
5-item short quiz (can be written or oral):
What is cloud computing?
Give one example of ICT misuse.
Why is data privacy important?
What is one benefit of AI?
How can you avoid online scams?
V. Assignment
Performance Task:
Create a short digital presentation or infographic (using Canva, PowerPoint,
or hand-drawn) that explains one ICT trend or issue. Include:
A clear definition
2 real-life examples
Do’s and Don’ts
To be submitted next week.
