III. RATIONALE:

Malnutrition among children is a pressing issue that hinders their growth,

development, and overall well-being. A targeted feeding program can play a
crucial role in addressing this problem by providing nutritious meals to
malnourished children. By improving their nutritional status, we can enhance their
health, cognitive abilities, and future prospects.

IV. OBJECTIVES:

1. Improve the nutritional status of malnourished children by providing them with

balanced and nutrient-rich meals.
2. Promote healthy eating habits among malnourished children and their families
through nutrition education sessions.
3. Enhance the overall well-being and development of malnourished children by
addressing their specific nutritional needs.

V. PARTICIPANTS:

The primary participants of this feeding program are malnourished children aged
1-5 years. Their families and caregivers will also be involved in nutrition
education sessions to ensure the sustainability of healthy eating practices
beyond the program.

VI. DATE AND TIME:

Date of Start: May 20, 2024

Time: 8:00 – 12:00

VII. METHODOLOGY:

Identify malnourished children through screening and assessment of their

nutritional status. Conduct a thorough assessment of the children’s nutritional
needs and deficiencies. Develop individualized meal plans based on the
nutritional needs of each child, considering their age, weight, and specific
nutritional requirements. Provide nutrient-dense foods that are rich in essential
nutrients such as protein, vitamins, and minerals to promote healthy growth and
development. Monitor the progress of each child regularly to track their nutritional
improvement and make necessary adjustments to the meal plans.

X. EVALUATION:

Feeding programs for malnourished children are crucial interventions aimed at

addressing the nutritional needs of vulnerable populations. These programs
typically provide specialized food and nutritional support to children who are at
risk of or currently suffering from malnutrition. Assess the program’s
effectiveness in improving the nutritional status of the children. This can be
measured through indicators such as weight gain, improved height-for-age and
weight-for-height ratios, and reduction in signs of malnutrition.

XI. EXPECTED OUTPUT:

Improved nutritional status of malnourished children, reflected in weight gain,

improved growth, and overall health. Increased awareness among parents and
caregivers about the importance of proper nutrition and healthy eating habits.
Empowered families with the knowledge and skills to continue providing
nutritious meals to their children beyond the program.
