Understanding Normal vs.
Excessive Hair Fall
NORMAL HAIR FALL:
- Losing 50 to 100 hairs per day is considered normal.
- On hair wash or oiling days, losing up to 150 hairs is still within a healthy range.
- This is part of the natural hair growth cycle (exogen phase).
WHY THIS HAPPENS:
- Hair naturally sheds to make way for new hair growth.
- Most people dont notice this because its gradual and replaced by new growth.
WHEN TO WORRY ABOUT HAIR FALL:
You may need to take action if:
- Losing more than 150 hairs daily for several weeks.
- Noticeable thinning on the crown or temples.
- Hair coming out in clumps during combing or washing.
- Scalp becoming visible through hair.
- No new baby hair growing where it falls.
HOME HAIR PULL TEST:
1. Take 50-60 strands of hair between your fingers.
2. Gently pull.
If more than 56 strands come out easily, hair fall might be excessive.
TIP: Hair fall is often reversible when the cause (like stress, dandruff, poor diet) is addressed.
Track your fall, improve scalp care, and be patient with results!
