Sub: Problems of begging in the streets -----reg---

Sir,

Through the esteemed columns of your prestigious daily news paper, I would like to draw the kind attention
of concerned authorities towards the begging problem prevailing in the streets. Beggars have become a great
nuisance these days. They pester people for alms in trains, buses, bazaars and streets. They shout a curse if
one refuses to listen to them.
No doubt, some beggars deserve our sympathy. They are handicapped. They are unable to earn their living.
But the pity is that most the beggars are able- bodies.
Begging has become a profession with them. They find it the easiest way earn their living. This evil is slur
on the fair name of our country.

Begging should be avoided by the law. It should be made a punishable offence. The Govt. should open
asylums for those beggars who are really helpless. Able- bodied beggars should be forced to work. If they
go without work, they also go without food. We should have no sympathy for such imposters. We should not
encourage them by giving alms. People thus play a big role in eradicating this evil.

Thank you,

Yours truly,
Amit raj

14th June 2025

The Director,
Madan Travels and Tours
Shimla

Subject : Complaint for the services provided to Diwan Public School.

Sir,

I am writing to you to shed some light on our school's recent trip to Shimla during the summer vacation for
a week through the tourism package provided by your company.

Sir, 1 have to tell you that the arrangements done by your good office were highly substandard, and the team
had to suffer from the time it landed in Shimla. Nobody came to receive the students at the station on time.
After calling your guide for an hour, he showed up with a lot of excuses. Second, the rooms provided by
your good company were far below standard. They were highly unhygienic; the bedsheets and everything
else in the rooms were covered in dust, not to mention that the food was absolutely not edible. I cannot tell
you what embarrassment our reputed school had to face because of your fake promises and poor services.
Last but not least, I would say that it was such a horrible experience with you, and I assure you that I will
never recommend your tours and travels to anyone in the future.

It's a request to stop duping tourists like this, as this spoils the face value of the local community and questions
the integrity of honest providers.

With a lot of regret,

Yours sincerely
Anita

The letters exemplify clear, structured communication by stating purpose, context, and requested actions or complaints concisely. For instance, Amit's letter to the editor clearly outlines the social issue and suggests a solution methodically, while Alok's letter specifies order details and quality expectations. Similarly, Anita's complaint provides specific service failures and consequences, establishing accountability. These elements highlight the importance of precision and clarity in formal communication, ensuring that messages are effectively conveyed and recipients can respond appropriately .

Anita's complaint highlights significant lapses in customer service quality by Madan Travels and Tours. Key issues included delays in receiving guests, substandard accommodation with unhygienic rooms, and inedible food. These factors indicate a breach in service promises and failure in managing customer expectations and logistics. From a service quality perspective, these flaws severely impact client satisfaction and the agency's reputation. The complaint suggests a need for improving operational efficiency, employee accountability, and service transparency to restore trust and credibility .

The solution proposed by Amit, which includes legal prohibitions on begging and the establishment of asylums for the helpless, has potential strengths and weaknesses. A strength is that it aims to differentiate between those genuinely in need and those exploiting the system. This can potentially reduce public nuisance and help those who are truly in need to receive assistance. However, a weakness might be the feasibility and ethical implications of enforcing punishments on beggars without providing adequate alternative livelihoods, which can lead to human rights concerns .

Vaishnavi's inquiry about accommodation illustrates her foresight in addressing logistical challenges prior to committing to a course far from home. This shows an understanding that living arrangements significantly impact the overall educational experience and well-being. By prioritizing accommodation details, she demonstrates awareness of the full spectrum of practical considerations necessary for sustaining focus and productivity away from familiar surroundings .

Amit highlights that begging is a nuisance, with beggars pestering people for alms in public spaces. He mentions that while some beggars are handicapped and deserve sympathy, most are able-bodied and choose begging as an easy means of livelihood. According to Amit, begging tarnishes the country's reputation and should be legally discouraged. He suggests opening asylums for the truly helpless and implementing laws to prevent able-bodied beggars from persisting in this lifestyle .

Amit suggests distinguishing between handicapped beggars, who deserve sympathy and assistance, and able-bodied beggars, who should be discouraged through legal measures. The social implications of this classification could include reinforcing societal stigma against certain groups and potentially neglecting individuals whose circumstances aren't visibly obvious but still merit support. Ethical considerations about the fairness and consequences of enforcing such distinctions could affect public perception and policy-making in dealing with poverty .

Challenges for Madan Travels and Tours could include damaged reputation, loss of trust, and potential loss of business due to negative word-of-mouth. They may face increased scrutiny from clients and may need to invest in restoring their image. Addressing these issues requires implementing stringent quality checks, providing staff training, and setting clear service standards. Prompt resolutions to complaints and gathering feedback for continuous improvement would be crucial steps in preventing future occurrences and rebuilding client trust .

Enforcing a law against begging raises ethical questions surrounding the right to survival and the societal obligation to support vulnerable populations. Enforcing such a law could criminalize poverty without addressing root causes. To balance legality and compassion, society could focus on creating comprehensive welfare systems that provide support and opportunities for rehabilitation rather than punishment. This might involve integrating social services into law enforcement practices and ensuring policies are in place to uplift rather than marginalize impoverished individuals .

Vaishnavi inquires about the course details, duration, fee structure, mode of payment, and accommodation facilities, reflecting a thorough and proactive approach to planning her education. Her request for a prospectus and interest in how the course enriches her personality shows an understanding of the importance of aligning educational opportunities with personal development goals. Such preparatory steps demonstrate her commitment to making informed decisions regarding her future educational pathways .

Alok insists on good quality sports goods and states that the suppliers should be delivered at the school and checked upon receipt. Furthermore, Alok mentions that payment will only be made within 10 days of receiving the material in good condition, ensuring that only appropriate and expected goods are accepted. This approach places a quality control mechanism before finalization of payment .
