ENGINEERING DRAWING
(Common to CSE, CSE (CS) & CSD)
Time: 3 hours Max. Marks: 70
(Answer all the questions: 05 X 14 = 70 Marks)
Assume any missing data appropriately.
*****
1 A circle of 72 mm diameter rolls along a straight line without slipping. Draw the curve traced 14M
out by a point P on the circumference, for one complete revolution of the circle. Name the
curve. Draw a tangent and normal to the curve at a point S, lying on the curve.
OR
2 Construct an epi-cycloid, rolling circle 60 mm diameter and directing circle 14M
120 mm radius. Draw a tangent and normal at any point N, which is on the curve.

3 (a) Identify the position of the points in space. 7M

(b) A circular plate of diameter 60 mm has the end A of the diameter AB in the HP and the plate 7M
is inclined at 45° to the HP. Draw its projections when the diameter AB appears to be inclined
at 60° to the VP in the top view.
OR
4 A line AB 75 mm long has one end A 20 mm above HP and 25 mm in front of VP. The end B 14M
is 50mm above the HP and 60 mm in front of VP. Draw the projection of the line and find its
inclination with HP and VP.

5 A hexagonal pyramid of base side 25 mm and axis height 55 mm is resting on HP with one of 14M
its base corners, such that the axis is inclined at 45 to HP and parallel to VP. Draw the
projections of the pyramid.
OR
6 A pentagonal prism of base side 25 mm and axis length 55 mm resting on a lateral edge on 14M
HP. The rectangular faces containing that edge is inclined to 30 to HP. When the axis
inclined 40 to the VP. Draw its projections.

7 A pentagonal prism, 30 mm base side and 50 mm axis is standing on HP on its base with one 14M
side of the base perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a section plane inclined at 45º to the HP,
through mid-point of axis. Draw FV, sectional TV and sectional side view. Also draw true
shape of section.
OR
8 A square pyramid, base 40 mm side and axis 65 mm long, has its base on the HP and all the 14M
edges of the base equally inclined to the VP. It is cut by a section plane, perpendicular to the
VP, inclined at 45º to the HP and bisecting the axis. Draw its sectional top view, sectional side
view and true shape of the section.

9 A frustum of square pyramid has its base 50 mm side, top 25 mm side and axis 75 mm. Draw 14M
the development of its lateral surface. Also draw the projections of the frustum (when its axis
is vertical and a side of its base is parallel to the VP), showing the line joining the midpoint of
the top edge of one face with the midpoint of the bottom edge of the opposite face, by the
shortest distance.
OR
10 A cone with base diameter 40 mm and slant height 60 mm is kept on the ground on its base. 14M
An AIP inclined at 45° to the HP cuts the cone through the midpoint of the axis. Draw the
development.
