particularly stress and coping strategies in middle and late adolescence.
B. Performance Standard: The learner shall be able to identify his/her own vulnerabilities and plan on how to stay mentally
healthy while coping with stress.

DAY 1 TOPIC: COPING WITH STRESS IN MIDDLE AND LATE ADOLESCENCE


OBJECTIVES: 1. discuss that understanding stress and its sources during adolescence may help in
identifying ways to cope and have a healthful life.
2. identify sources of stress and illustrate the effects of stress on your system.
3. demonstrate personal ways of coping with stress for healthful living.
SET
Check all attendees.
Ask a volunteer to lead a prayer.
Ask the students to submit their portfolio.
Icebreaker “Student Charades” students will act out a stressful situation while others guess.
Ask the students “What stresses you out the most as a student?”.
REVIEW:
Recall their “Affirmation Poster” from last week.
Ask the students “How did affirmations help you feel more in control of your emotions?”.
MOTIVATE

Ask the students “Is all stress bad? What does your body feel like when you're stressed?”.
EXPLAIN
Present the learning objectives.
Ask the students to read the section coping with stress in middle and late adolescence page 48 in their
textbook.
Ask each student to share one personal source of stress.
Shows a simple diagram of the physical, emotional, and behavioral effects of stress.
Ask student to connect their experience to the diagram.
APPLY
Ask each students draws a “stress map” showing (1) stress source (2) how it affects their body, feelings, and
actions (3) their current way of coping.
GENERALIZE
Ask the students “Why is it important to recognize your stress before it becomes overwhelming?”.
Assignment:
Reflection paper for portfolio: “How I usually deal with stress , is it healthy or unhealthy?”.

DAY 2 TOPIC: STRATEGIES FOR COPING WITH STRESS FOR A HEALTHY LIFE
OBJECTIVES: 1. discuss that understanding stress and its sources during adolescence may help in
identifying ways to cope and have a healthful life.
2. identify sources of stress and illustrate the effects of stress on your system.
3. demonstrate personal ways of coping with stress for healthful living.

Ask a volunteer to lead a prayer.
Check if students submitted their stress reflection.
Ask the students “What did you realize about your way of coping with stress?”.
REVIEW:
Review the “Stress Map” from previous meeting.
Ask the students “What did you notice about how your body reacts to stress?”.
MOTIVATE

EXPLAIN
Present the learning objectives.
Ask the students to read the textbook page 54 on strategies for coping with stress for a healthy life.
Writes 2 columns (1) Unhealthy (2) Healthy Coping.
Ask students to give real-life examples for each and discuss what works for them.
Ask the students “Which strategy do you want to try more often?”.
APPLY
Ask students to create a “Stress Toolbox” list with at least 5 healthy coping strategies they personally like.
Encourage aloud their top 2 favorites.
GENERALIZE
Ask the students “What’s one thing you can do today to take care of your mental health?”.
Assignment:
Prepare for next meeting written work by reviewing key concepts (1) What is stress? (2) Effects of stress (3)
Coping strategies.

DAY 3 TOPIC: WRITTEN WORK (QUIZ AND REFLECTION)


OBJECTIVES: 4. assess understanding of stress, its effects, and coping strategies.
5. Reflect on personal stress experiences and plans for maintaining mental wellness.
SET
Check all attendees.
Ask a volunteer to lead a prayer.
REVIEW:
Leads a brief oral review “What is stress? Why do we need to manage it?”.
MOTIVATE
Short energizer: “One word check-in” each students say one word to describe their mood.
EXPLAIN
Present the learning objectives.
Explain the written work will have 2 parts (1) Short quiz include multiple choice 1-5 and identification 6-10
(2) Personal Reflection 10 points. For 30 mintues.

DAY 5 TOPIC: PETA 4 “MY MENTAL HEALTH PLAN


OBJECTIVES: 6. identify personal vulnerabilities.
7. create a plan to stay mentally healthy while coping with stress.
SET
Check all attendees.
Ask a volunteer to lead a prayer.
Check if students brought their materials for the PETA.
REVIEW:
Ask the students “What were your top 2 realizations during the quiz and reflection?”.
MOTIVATE
Ask the students “What does a mentally healthy YOU look like?”.
EXPLAIN
Present the learning objectives.
Give the instructions where each students will create a mental health action plan poster with (1) their
biggest stress trigger (2) their physical and emotional reactions (3) 3 heathy coping strategies (4) 1
affirmation 1 support system.
Encourage students to ask questions for clarification.
APPLY
Students will do the PETA.
GENERALIZE
Ask the students “What did you discover about your strength in handling stress?”.
Assignment:
Submit completed posters on next class (if not done in class).
