Big Idea
Understanding and recognizing different parts of speech builds strong sentence structure,
boosts vocabulary, and improves both writing and speaking skills.
Plan of Execution
Revise homework (list of nouns, verbs, etc.) to activate prior knowledge.​
Explain and define: noun, pronoun, verb, adjective using textbook and board.​
Highlight examples from the book; write and label sentences using markers.​
Divide class into teams for a timed sentence challenge game.​
Independent sentence construction and labeling by students.

Homework Assignment
Write 5 sentences on your own using at least 2 different parts of speech in each.​

Stage # 1: Presentation
Skills: Listening, vocabulary recognition, grammar awareness

Objectives: To introduce and explain noun, pronoun, verb, and adjective with definitions,
examples, and sentence illustrations

Procedure:
Greet students and recall previous homework (part of speech identification)​
Using textbook, define:
Noun: Names person, place, thing, or idea Pronoun: Replaces a noun

Verb: Expresses action or state Adjective: Describes a noun or pronoun


Also discuss the types of each of them as given on the textbook
Make a table of parts of speech to help students memorize and compare them
Use board to write sample sentences and underline each part of speech​
Ask students to identify and classify the words aloud

Stage # 2: Practice
Skills: Grammar recognition, teamwork, timed thinking

Objectives: To reinforce knowledge of parts of speech through a game-based team activity

Procedure:
Divide class into Team A and Team B
Write a sentence on the board for each team (e.g., “The big dog barked loudly.”)
Set a 1-minute timer. Each team must identify and label all N, Pro, V and Adj.
The fastest accurate team wins the round. Continue with 2–3 more sentences.
Provide immediate feedback and explanation

Stage # 3: Production
Skills: Independent writing, grammar application

Objectives: To apply parts of speech understanding by writing and labeling sentences

Procedure:
Ask each student to write 1 sentence using all 4 parts of speech that they studied.​
They should label or underline each part of speech (e.g., N, Pro, V, Adj)​
Ask a few students to read aloud their sentences to the class.
Peer and teacher feedback provided on accuracy
After that ask them to open their textbooks page # 13 and fill exercise part C.
Provide support while they fill the exercise.
