The table shows the yearly pay on average for men and women in eight different professions as well as in all
occupations, measured in euros unit.

Overall, the highest paid job for both genders is company director, whereas the lowest paid job for men is
secretary and for women is nurse. In addition, men are usually better paid than women when it comes to the
same jobs. Women’s average salary is approximately 28,000 euros; about 3,000 euros less than men’s. In
other words, women take home 0.9 euro for every euro men take home.

As can be seen from the table, men are paid a lot more than women in several jobs. For example, male
company directors earn nearly 30,000 euros more and male lawyers earn around 10,000 euros more. In other
categories, the gap is smaller, or there is no real difference. The earnings of male doctors, accountants, and
journalists are only slightly more than women, with the gap of approximately 3,000 euros.

In the job of teaching, both genders get exactly the same amount of money, which is 25,000 euros. Nurses
and secretaries are the two areas of employment in which women make more than men.
