Managerial Communications Case Study
FAS Working Group: E2
Summary of The Incident
Sayid had high hopes when he joined First Tech, and he was immediately placed
on a prestigious development project, something that most new hires would be
overjoyed about. Even though he did well, he kept trying to transition into a
testing role because his true interest was in testing automation. He didn't get the
flexibility he wanted from the company because of inflexible procedures and
project pressures. It's reasonable to argue that the business could have provided
more assistance, but Sayid also had the opportunity to be a bit more professional
and patient. Instead, he became frustrated, stopped interacting, and gradually
checked out. Instead of adjusting to the system, he blamed it when things didn't
go his way. This is a classic example of how organizational reality and individual
ambition are not aligned. In our opinion, both sides could have handled it better.
