Teacher’s Activity

B. Motivation

Who among you here have bought something from the store
this morning?

What did you buy?

How much is it?

How many did you buy?
How much did you pay?
How did you know the total amount?

radish and 0.240 kg of okra. How many kilograms of vegetables
did she use?

1. Who learned how to cook beef sinigang?

2. What are the two vegetables mentioned?
3. How many kilos of radish did she used?
4. How about okra?
5. if you are Nena, would you learned how to cook?

Let’s analyze the problem

Ask the following question:
1. What is asked in the problem?
2. What are the given?
3. What is operation to be used?
4. How will you solve the problem?
5. What is the number sentence?

At first, arrange the numbers in column, align the decimal point,

add like whole numbers and put the decimal point directly
below the decimal point in the addends.
Example:
0.550
+0.240
0.790 kilograms

Another example,
0.343
+ 0.215
0.558

Let’s practice!
Find each sum.
1. 0.312 + 0.605
2. 0.013 + 0.336
3. 0.389 + 0.310
