Congratulations and thank you for purchasing the Italian Grand Expansion Pack for Ivory. We are
pleased to be able to expand Ivory’s state of the art library by adding yet another of the world’s great
concert instruments.

The Italian 10 foot Concert Grand is one of the finest handcrafted instruments made today. A rare and
exquisite piano, it has been impeccably recorded in one of the world’s great concert halls, and brought
to life by Ivory’s powerful virtual instrument technology.

Every effort has been made by Synthogy’s engineers and sound designers to meet and even exceed the
exacting standards of sound quality and playability established by Ivory, to deliver a remarkable and
unparalleled musical experience.

System Requirements (Macintosh)

Audio Units, RTAS, VST 2.0 host, or Ivory Standalone application.

1 GB RAM
19 GB free hard drive space

DVD ROM drive for installation

Installing Italian Grand (Macintosh):

Insert the disk ItalianGrand 1 into your DVD drive.

Double-click on the disk icon if the window doesn’t come up automatically. Double click “Italian
Grand Expansion Pack for [Link]” to launch the installer and follow the instructions.

After an Introduction screen, you’ll be prompted to read an informational screen, and to read and
accept our license agreement.

Next, you'll be asked to Select a Destination volume. You should select your main system disk at this
step. Don't worry! This is NOT where your 19 GB of Italian Grand library data will be stored. The
library data will be stored in your existing Ivory Items folder.

The next step is to select an Installation Type. The default choice is Easy Install, which will install all
of the plug-in formats as well as the piano library, the presets and documentation. If you want to omit
some of the plug-in formats, you can press the Customize button. Uncheck any packages that you do
not want installed.

Next, press the Install or Upgrade button to continue with the installation. The installer may ask you
to locate specific folders that it needs to find in order to properly install the plug-ins that you’ve
specified.

The installer will find your existing Ivory Items folder and place the Italian Grand library, presets, and
tools in that folder. You’ll need 19 GB of free space for the Italian Grand library on the volume that
contains your Ivory Items folder.

When the next DVD is needed, the current one will eject, and the installer will prompt you and wait for
the next DVD to be inserted. Installing the large library files is resource-intensive, and may take over
an hour to complete on slower systems. You may click on the Pause button to temporarily stop the
installation process if you’d like to take care of other tasks without bogging things down. Simply click
Continue to continue the installation.

When installation is complete, you must run the Authorize Ivory utility, located in the Ivory Items
folder, to authorize your current copy of Ivory. This procedure is described on page 5.

Installing Italian Grand (PC)

Insert the disk ItalianGrand 1 into your DVD drive. Double-click on the disk icon if the window
doesn't come up automatically. Double click Install_Italian_Grand_Expansion_Pack_for_Ivory to
launch the installer and follow the instructions.

You'll be prompted to read a short welcome message, and then to read and accept our license
agreement before proceeding with installation.

You will be asked to choose a location to install the large library files. Use the file browser at the
bottom to locate your Ivory Items folder. To install the Italian Grand library you’ll need 19 GB of free
space.

After you've chosen the Ivory Items location, you have the choice of installing any of the plug-in
formats along with the piano library. By default, all plug-in formats are selected. The next screen
verifies your choices. Click Next to begin the installation.

The installer may ask you to locate specific folders that it needs to find in order to properly install the
plug-ins that you’ve specified.

VST applications only: VST applications (such as Cubase, Nuendo, and Logic) require VST plug-ins
to be installed into a special folder. In most cases a VST application accepts plug-ins installed in the
Vstplugins subfolder under the main applications folder. Steinberg hosts may also use a shared plug-
ins folder.

If you want to use Ivory in more than one VST application, manually copy the plug-in dll file, which
you have installed into the chosen folder, to the appropriate VST compatible host application folder.
For example, Cubase VST hosts VST plug-ins in its Vstplugins folder. Cubase VST 5.0 can also host
plug-ins in a shared folder called Shared VST Plug-ins Folder. This folder is usually located at
C:\ProgramFiles\Steinberg\Vstplugins.

In any case, in order to install the Ivory plug-in in other VST compatible applications, you should refer
to the particular application's user’s guide.

After the plug-ins and other program data files are installed, the Ivory Library installation starts. When
the next DVD is needed, the installer will prompt you to change disks and press OK to continue the
installation. Installing the large library files is resource-intensive, and may take over an hour to
complete on slower systems. You may click on the Pause button to temporarily stop the installation
process if you’d like to take care of other tasks without bogging things down. Simply click Continue to
continue the installation.

When installation is complete, you must run the Authorize Ivory utility, located in the Ivory Items

Authorizing Ivory
Your new Expansion Pack comes with a 3 day grace period before you are required to authorize it.

To register your new Expansion Pack, launch the Authorize Ivory application found in your Ivory
Items folder. You will then need the following information for registration:

• 5 digit Machine ID displayed in Authorize Ivory

• The Expansion Pack Serial Number found on the envelope containing your DVDs
• Your original Ivory 1.5 Serial Number
• A valid email address

Next, go to the Synthogy Software Registration page at [Link] and follow

the steps to register your new Expansion Pack and obtain a new Unlock Code. Once you receive your
new Unlock Code via email, type or copy/paste it into the Authorize Ivory application and press OK.
You should now see a confirmation dialog indicating that the intended products have been successfully
authorized.

You may run Authorize Ivory at any time to determine which products are currently authorized on your
machine.

Expansion Packs that have not been authorized before the 3 day grace period expires will show up in
the Keysets Browser as "Expired" and will not be available for use. See page 6 for more details about
the Keysets Browser.

Presets and Keysets Browsers

In addition to supporting your new Italian Grand Library, your Ivory software also features some
enhancements to the user interface. Veteran Ivory users will notice that the drop down menus for
selection of Keysets and Presets are now gone, and that there is a new "browser" style user interface for
selecting presets and keysets. The Programs, Sessions, Effects and Velocity Maps presets all feature
this new browser interface (the Synth Layer menu will still use a drop down menu).

The browser interface offers greater flexibility in organizing and sorting your Ivory presets. To call up
the browser, simply click on the preset or keyset selector.

The Macintosh and Windows browsers look a bit different from each other. Here are pictures of the
two browsers in action.

The Windows Effects Browser

When you launch Ivory, your presets will automatically be sorted into categories. Factory presets will
be separated from user presets. The preset files in your Ivory Items folder will be moved into sub-
folders representing the categories. Factory Programs will be organized by Piano model, and Factory
Effects will be organized by Effects type. The screen shots show this organization.

You can also create your own folders in the Ivory Items presets folders (see below for more details). If
you choose to organize your presets in this way, you can navigate through your folders in Ivory. We
recommend that you do not put your user presets into the factory-created folders. On the Macintosh,
the folders are shown in-line with the presets themselves. On Windows, the folders are shown in the
left column in a tree-view.

You can sort your presets in the browser by clicking on the column headers. Each type of preset will
have a few columns with useful information about the presets.

When you open a browser, the currently selected preset or keyset will be highlighted for you. To select
a new preset, simply double-click on a preset.

When you save a new preset, it will be stored in the User folder.

As mentioned above, you can organize your User presets into your own customized folders using your
operating system's standard methods. For example, all of your Program presets can be found in
“Ivory Items/Presets/Programs”. In the Programs folder you will see the category folders, each
containing their Program presets. To create your own custom category folders for your Program
presets, simply create a new folder in the Programs folder and move the presets from your User folder
into the new folders. The next time you launch Ivory, you will see your folders appearing as categories
that you can navigate in the Ivory browser.

As mentioned on page 5, Expansion Pack keysets will appear in the Keysets browser if your Expansion
Pack has been successfully authorized or is within the 3 day grace period. Otherwise, unauthorized
keysets will not be available, and will show up under a category named "Expired". For more
information on authorization, please see page 5.

cleared for musical use. Once you have purchased a disc, no additional licensing fees are required to
use it in your music compositions. However, all products require a specific crediting for Ivory in the

liner notes of the music release. Screen credit for Film/TV use is not required. Multimedia and Game
Music use of Ivory is restricted to use within the musical compositions themselves.
4. Ownership. The license granted hereunder does not constitute a transfer or sale of ownership rights
in or to the Software/ Soundware. Except for the license rights granted above, Synthogy retains all right
title and interest in and to the Software/Soundware including all intellectual property rights therein. The
Software/Soundware is protected by applicable intellectual property laws, including United States
copyright laws and international treaties.
5. Term and Termination. This License shall be effective upon installation of the Software/Soundware
and shall terminate upon the earlier of (a) your failure to comply with any term of this License; (b)
return, destruction or deletion of all copies of the Software/Soundware in your possession. Synthogy’s
rights and your obligations shall survive termination of this License.
6. Updates. Synthogy may, from time to time, revise the performance of its products and in doing so,
incur NO obligation to furnish such revisions to any LICENSOR customer. Unless explicitly stated
otherwise, any new features that augment or enhance the current Software/Soundware, including the
release of new properties, shall be subject to terms of this License, and shall be provided at the sole
discretion of Synthogy.
7. NO OTHER WARRANTIES. EXCEPT AS SET FORTH ABOVE, THE
