1 Students conducted research amongst visitors to the recreational park as shown below in Fig 1. For

A simple questionnaire was designed to collect information about visitors to a recreational park. Use
Students used systematic random sampling and asked questions to every tenth person who
passed. 100 people were asked in total. A copy of the questionnaire is shown in Fig. 2.

2 Students investigated traffic flow in and around the City Centre three times during a For

weekdays. The results of the traffic count are shown in Fig 5. The students proposed to Use

Hypothesis: There will be variations in the volume of traffic from the city centre at

different times.

(a) Four sites were identified to do a traffic count as shown in Fig 5. The times chosen were 0800,
1300 and 1700. They agreed to work in pairs to count the number of vehicles travelling past the four
survey sites. They decided to conduct each traffic count for 10 minutes.

(i) A tally system was used for recording the vehicles passing each student. Suggest two
reasons why this is a suitable recording method for this investigation.
