Identifying any potential risks that could cause an impediment in the project

later on and making sure to align the people/leads on the project on this
potential risk.

 What is a project risk:

A project risk is anything that could impact a project’s success by either
delaying the project timeline, overloading the budget, or leading to
reduced project performance in some other way.

 Risks commonly affect the following aspects of a project:

Budget: shift the amount of money you need to complete a project
Schedule: Schedules and timelines can face delays or unexpected
changes
Scope: Initial scope can expand or shift away from a project’s original
goals

 Reduce and Manage Risks:

o Create a risk management plan
Risk management plan for identifying and prioritizing risk, risk
tolerance, how the team will respond to risk, etc.

o Keep the risk register up to date.

Update the risk register to keep track of what risk events occurred,
how your team responded, and which new risks have surfaced which
you were unable to detect initially.

o Monitor risks
This makes sure you’ll have a constant sense of where the risks are
and how likely they are to happen, so you'll be ready to tackle them if
they do occur.

o Be proactive instead of reactive.

Prepare yourself to take preventative steps that reduce the probability
of the risk event occurring, rather than trying to respond once it has
already happened.

o Mitigate risks
Come up with a plan to mitigate each risk

 Tools and techniques

o Root Cause Analysis
